Nope it wasn't

It was a war crime though, at least by today's standards...
The thing is: as horrible as it was, the US was not the aggressor back then... If you attack someone, you must be aware you have things coming...
And it's not exactly like the Japanese were poor victims in that war...

None of this is an excuse or a like for like - two wrongs don't make a right! But your evaluation is a little too one-sided again

International matters/conflicts are complicated...

The most dramatic war story I ever heard. If Malta was a big country, there'd have been some 10 blockbuster movies about Operation Pedestal.

The Siege of Malta, also known as the Siege of Valletta or the French Blockade (Maltese: L-Imblokk tal-Franċiżi), was a two-year siege and blockade of the French garrison in Valletta and the Three Cities, the largest settlements and main port on the Mediterranean island of Malta, between 1798 and 1800. Malta had been captured by a French expeditionary force during the Mediterranean campaign of 1798, and garrisoned with 3,000 men under the command of Claude-Henri Belgrand de Vaubois. After the British Royal Navy destroyed the French Mediterranean Fleet at the Battle of the Nile on 1 August 1798, the British were able to initiate a blockade of Malta, assisted by an uprising among the native Maltese population against French rule. After its retreat to Valletta, the French garrison faced severe food shortages, exacerbated by the effectiveness of the British blockade. Although small quantities of supplies arrived in early 1799, there was no further traffic until early 1800, by which time starvation and disease was having a disastrous effect on health, morale, and combat capability of the French troops. [source]

Today Malta celebrates the end of two Sieges... in fact we call this day (also coincidentally or not it is a Religious feast) Victory Day.

1565 vs the Ottoman empire
1943 the capitulation of italy thus ending the war for us

For a conspiracy theory aficionado you seem extraordinarily sympathetic to one of the first ‘secret societies’. :D

70 years ago yesterday women voted for the first time in Malta and elected the first female MP, Agatha Barbara. Eventually after Malta became independent and later a republic, she became the first president, ever.

I'm curious whether anyone knows of another country whose first president was a woman

No , our first President was Sir. Anthony Mamo who was succeeded by Anton Buttigieg. Ms Barbara was the third Pres of Malta
