The Wake Up of the Belgian Football?

Postby Element » Mon Aug 23, 2010 11:02 am

Belgian football is in my opinion the richest in under 23 players and with quality too

I Did a little research on all U-23 BELGIAN players who are in the main squad of the top teams (Anderlecht , Brugge , Standard Liege , Genk and the ones who paly outside Belgium)

Some are the Stars , some are starters , some are bench players

Anderlecht : 4 players

1-Birger Longueville
2- Ziguy Badibanga
3- Jonathan Legear
4- Romelu Lukaku (Top scorer of the league at the age of 17 national player , 10 million market value)

Brugge : 4 players
1-Colin Coosemans
2-Maxime Lestienne
3-Thibaut van Acker
4-Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe (was A Player for Hamburg)

Standard Liege : 10 players

1-Kristof van Hout
2-Franco Zennaro
3-Tom de Mul (will be 24 this year , Loaned from Sevilla and national player)
4-Sébastien Pocognoli (National player)
5-Steven Defour (Captain and also national palyer with Market Value of 12 millions which is really high for this league)
6-Axel Witsel (National player with a market Value of 8.5 Millions which is really high for this league)
7-Christopher Verbist
8-Arnor Angeli
9-Christian Benteke (National player)
10-Danilo

Genk 8 players

1-Koen Casteels
2-Thibaut Courtois
3-Dimitri Daeseleire
4-David Hubert
5-Timothy Durwael
6-Jelle Vossen
7- Maurizio Aquino
8-Kevin De Bruyne (Super Talent , National team)

outside Belgium

1-Eden Hazard (SUPERSTAR , national player)
2-Kevin Mirallas (National player)
3-Jan Vertonghen (National player)
4-Thomas Vermaelen (National player will be 24 this year)
5-Vincent Kompany (National player , will be 24 this year)
6- Moussa Dembele (national player)
7- Dries Mertens (Many teams are after him, was 2nd best player in the Eredivise this season)
8- Marouane Fellaini (National player and super midfielder )
================

The Number is huge , and i have only included the top 4 teams , every other team has 5 or more under 23 BELGIAN players

This is interesting.

There is a certain Belgian veteran who plays for a top European club. Let's hope they don't follow his example.

I bought Lukaku and Hazard in my current FM2010 game :) I know they have a lot of talent, the question is whether they will fulfill it or not since the Belgian league is not exactly the perfect place for a player to become a superstar.

Hazard plays in the French league

And at the age of 18 , he totally embarrassed Steven Gerrard

I kind of expected more from both to be honest, but they're still very young.

I think the Belgium NT is any FIFA/FM player's dream, it remains to be seen if their coach is apt enough to lead them somewhere. Also, they've had ego problems in the past, so that can always pop up.

Even with all that talent, they haven't managed to really participate at a WK or EK for more than 25years... It's seems very likely but not even sure that they would go to Brasil now, http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/preliminar ... index.html
