Have you ever watched a game where teams vied to score.... Against themselves? Apparently there was such a game and it has been called the craziest football game ever, courtesy of 4Dfoot.com.
Back in a 1994 Caribbean cup some genius decided to spice things up by coming up with a few nasty suggestions, namely teams could not tie - not even at the group stage - and each goal in the subsequent extra time would count double.
This is how team A found itself needing to win by a two goal margin in order to qualify past the group stage. They did manage to score the two goals they needed but, seven minutes till the whistle, they conceded a goal.
One of the defenders figured they had two choices. Score a third goal in 7 minutes (they were already leading 2-1 at that time) or tie with an own goal and go into extra time. 30 minutes and a goal that counts as double seemed more attainable. Dude oughta give Pellegrini a few lessons in mathematics.
What does he do? He starts exchanging passes with the keeper and scores an own goal 'by accident'. 2-2.
Problem is team B realizes what is going on. They figured if they score another goal - doesn't matter which way - will avoid the extra time. So they start attacking both ways while Barbados (team A) starts defending... Both sides!!
