Just to kinda bump this idea, don't know if #12 can fix a timing if we want to do a cook-off, but I just had a eureka moment this morning for a German-Portuguese dish :P and I'm definitely gonna make it whether we're doing the cook-off or not.

So #12 what do you reckon? :) And to MUTU and FCBayernMunchen how would the blog article work? Do you guys reckon we just write down the recipe and talk about it?

Personally I'd enjoy reading the process behind cooking it (the recipe in practice) and seeing a couple of photos, perhaps even while it's not yet finished. But it's up to you really.

Btw if you decided to do the blog thing, we should add a poll to the article and vote for the best one.

Well... I will be at the stadium on Tuesday, and I'm busy on the weekend, so that will be hard... Maybe for the rematch?! We could both prepare it the weekend before and then post it that Wednesday?!
Also, what's your idea? I need a little time to plan (esp.: buy!) this in advance...
Thanks for nothing, :pep: !!

Ah alright that's cool, I'll still prepare it round this week or next but I could just delay the reveal until we can both do it :)

Well I was thinking, for a fusion you don't necessarily have to merge two dishes into one, you'd just have to incorporate the different flavours together, maybe spice up a German meat the Portuguese way etc.

Portugal seem to use spices from the Piri Piri chilli so I'll definitely use that to season something. Some other ingredients prominent there are white beans, kale, cod, olive oil, chorizo sausage, squid/octopus and a whole bunch of seafood.

I'm definitely gonna make a Schnitzel ( :P) and then I'm gonna garnish it with maybe a warm salad featuring some of the above ingredients above. And possibly a gravy-based sauce to tie them together.

Like a Piccata milanese only with seafood sauce instead of tomato sauce? I'm in... As long as I'm free to leave out octopus... (or substitute it woith squid rings...) Because that's too gross even for me to eat... :P
Piri piri and chorizo are actually two things I almost always have here... :P But I don't think the chorizo and the seafood combine well, right?!
Thanks for nothing, :pep: !!

Yeah the Picatta idea does sound nice. Also the Portugese actually do think chorizo combines well with seafood... Could be used to flavour a stock etc. Although I wouldn't put those two together myself (and I won't use chorizo anyway because it's pork).

I've been using these for inspiration, maybe they'll help.

To be honest I'm not entirely sure. It's an amazing waffles place run by Belgians which opened recently. I wanted to order a chocolate-coated waffle and they offered me these instead. Called them chocolate-coated mini-something. They're great and the inside tastes like coffee.

Ah dammit, I already forgot again... It's hard when pork has been a part of basic foods for your entire life! :D
I could use it though to make up for my inferior presentational skills with the die hard carnivores though :P
