It made me want to improve it. How the hell do I grasp that grammar with self study? Any good resources?

Hey German speakers...

The word "Warnmärchen" means "warning tales". Related to it, I have "Schreckmärchen". It's listed as "or" so I assume the meaning is the same, but do you know if there's any difference? Or at least, what the word literally means? Google is leaving the first part as Schreck.

Afrikaans is said to be the easiest language for English speakers to learn.

Nope, that would be Frisian. The closest cousin to English.

If I could ever get the time I’d surely love to learn Dutch. It’s said to be closer to English than any other Germanic language and actually has utility when compared to Frisian, since it’s spoken in Netherlands, Belgium and South Africa.

I had started learning it on my own a few months ago but then became too busy and after that I became more interested in German again. It didn't seem too hard although I've forgotten much of it now.

However it sounds closer to today's Maltese than the English at the time sounds close to today's English, I think.

EDIT: or from the early years of Maltese, at least. I thought the Kantilena was older than the 15th century but I was wrong. :P
