Because it seemed to me that he lost his focus and determination after achieving everything he could, out of peak, more into commercials than playing. Only Nadal managed to be his nemesis, especially in Paris. I wanted him to retire as nearly unbeatable... Nadal is not the same player from the injuries either.
I don't watch tennis since Federer started sucking.

No offense but good thing he didn't! There's a reason he's one of the greatest, if not the greatest of all time. And it ain't listening to critics :)

Ok so I know almost nothing about tennis, other than how it's played and that Federer and Nadal are amazing. Why is this win so special? I know it's a grand slam, but why the reaction of the Arsenal players for example?
Super Bayern! Super Bayern! Hey! Hey!

There are fans of Federer, Nadal and etc... just like there are fans of different clubs... I used to get into a lot of heated discussions with Nadal fans for example.

I can give you a hell number of reasons:

- Federer-Nadal is the greatest rivalry in the history of tennis.
- They played memorable matches including the Wimbledon'08 final which is considered the greatest match of all time.
- They have very different styles and personalities.
- They are the two greatest players in history.
- Federer has not beaten Nadal in Grand Slam for 10 years and the spaniard is known to be his nemesis.
- Federer has not won a Grand Slam title for 5 years and by winning today, he keeps Nadal at bay for the Grand Slam record, 18vs14.
- The swiss maestro who will soon turn 36, was sidelined for 6 months and this win was totally unexpected.

Roughly speaking, it became the equivalent of Real-Barça.

Ah! Ok that makes complete sense to me.

JANCKER wrote:There are fans of Federer, Nadal and etc... just like there are fans of different clubs... I used to get into a lot of heated discussions with Nadal fans for example.

That's true. I wish I could be more neutral, but I suppose it's like parents having multiple children and not having a favorite (clearly impossible :) ). But while I think it's fair to say we've got a fair number of unabashed Federer fans here on this forum, I think it's also a case that tennis fans get excited about most if not all of the top tennis players regardless of who they "support". Federer's classy style, Nadal's never-give-up youthful attitude, Wawrinka's power, Djokovic's complete game, Murray's intelligence... There's something to admire in each of them, and men's tennis is one of the few sports left where the contestants so openly respect each other.

Almost makes me forget chivalry is dead.

It's an enjoyable sport to play and watch... I also like to play golf but not that much to watch. I suck at both but whatever...

Then there is the one dimensional Karlovic who has the best serves but nothing else, height gives him the bird's eye view. He can't improve on other parts of the game, shame.
Ivanisevic was also great at serving but he had more than that.

Well, to be totally honest, few people watch women's tennis for the sake of sport, and from Bouchard to Safarova, there is something to suit all tastes
