Mobile phones thread

Postby AvatarX » Sat May 23, 2015 1:07 pm

What's your mobile phone right now?
What kind / version of operating system?

Currently I own a nexus 5. In general it's a very good phone for it's price with great display and speed.

What I was disappointed in was the native Google Android version of Lollipop, full of Google apps which suck the life of the battery in one day under heavy usage, even in 5.1.

So now I have a rooted very smooth CyanogenMod 12.1 (android 5.1.1) with nano gapps and greenify to help me kill unused apps. With this setup, with the same hardware I am able to have enough battery for 2.5 under same heavy usage.

Recently I tried a custom kernel in order to have double tap to wake, but I think the battery life took a small hit and now it can hold for 2 days, but it's acceptable.

Moto G (2nd gen.). Was forced to buy it after my S4 stopped working, and to be honest I'm quite happy with it. For it's price, it's great.

It tends to run quite slow at times though.

Tbh although Samsung mobile hardware is great (I used to own a S3), their support for software upgrades is very poor. That was one of the reasons I chose a Nexus.

Mine did and I think it's not much different from the vanilla version (not sure). Personally I haven't faced the problem you have with battery life. Quite the contrary actually.

I had that phone as a work phone in my old job, I hated it so much. When you plugged it in to charge when the battery had ran out completely, unless you unplugged and re plugged it in when it turned on initially from 0 charge for 3/4 seconds it would turn itself off again. The same happened to my colleagues as well. We got them brand new...

I Currently have an Iphone 5s running the latest iOS and while i really like it the battery life is terrible.

Currently using Sony Xperia Z3. On kitkat it was flawless, but on lollipop it is rubbish because Google dumbed everything down to cartoon looking

Mehmet Scholl once offered a mixtape CD to Oliver Kahn. Kahn replied: Do you want me to shoot myself? Keep your crap to yourself.
