Maybe, yeah... I like the Tales of series, if you know that (not the newer ones though...)
But I've also started to like turn based games so I think I might like the older ones as well...

I've heard about it but I haven't played them.

What I dislike about newer combat systems is that there's very little room for variation not just across the same series but across every RPG really. They're all pretty much the same, and when you have more than one character they act on their own which sometimes makes it easy to just run around and let them do the fighting. With a turn system you could control all of them and every game had its own peculiarities. I'm thinking of old games like Wild Arms and Legend of Dragoon... Not sure if you've played them

Nah but I see your point... There's quite a bunch though that get praise for their combat system recently... But I've played few recently, as the whole PS3 era was basically Uncharted and God of War for me...

Never really got into the PS3 ones for some reason either. Looking forward to playing Uncharted soon though.

I got Rise of the Tomb Raider from the Easter sales. Played it a bit tonight and it's really great. Seems much better than the 2013 reboot which was only a Tomb Raider in name. No open world BS. Don't get me wrong, I love open world games, but it just has no place in a Tomb Raider game. I enjoyed the 2013 game but not as a Tomb Raider. This one seems more similar to the old games.

Kinda hate it every game has to be open world and/or RPG/Shooter these days...
Yooka-Laylee is being delivered to me tomorrow, and judging by the - mixed - reviews, it's all the backers of the game wanted...

Couldn't agree more... I'm a big fan of RPGs but I miss the old platformers which were really popular in the past.

I wasn't familiar with Yooka-Laylee but after looking it up, damn I most own that. Probably not for a while though... I went on a spending spree and now have a good number of games, all waiting to be played. I probably won't even buy anything else this year other than Horizon at some point. So far I've barely touched anything other than FFXV, which I platinum'd this morning.

I periodically buy a few classics on sale (told you about FFVII, also Dark Cloud 1&2 and Oddworld: New&Tasty) so I still have a backlog, but after finishing The Witcher I didn't want to start a new one before Yooka
The team is composed by members of the classic Rare, making legendary games for the N64 (which I assume you didn't own...?!) - I think it'll be quite good... I also like RPGs and vast open worlds, also I enjoy the occasional shooter (not the CoD/Battlefield mass market shit) - but a little versatility never hurts... (also, besides Zelda, another reason why I actually consider getting a switch at some point when it hits a reasonable price: Mario Odyssey... Even though I hate the "console": if a game like Mario64 is still this mich fun after 20 years it says alot!)
If you like platformers, Jak&Dexter is supposed to be coming to PS4 2017... Also, Skylar&Plux is an indie project to keep in mind... Yooka should be available for under 30 within a few weeks I guess...
And I hope one of these days we'll both own the same game to have a session together!

I actually got The Witcher 3 myself but probably won't be playing it for a while. My backlog at the moment is mostly the same kind of stuff: Witcher, UC4, Tomb Raider, Dishonoured, Dragon Age, Wild Arms 3 (classic I never played, but loved the 2). Then I need to finish Ratchet and Clank which I had started. I also have Ape Escape 2 from the classics which is just a fun game that brings back memories. I'm playing a couple of levels every now and then.

I don't like shooters. Had a Medal of Honour game once which I didn't mind but I wouldn't purposely buy one. I like games like MGS (which I'll buy eventually) and the Tom Clancy games (not sure if the new ones are like the old ones) but those aren't exactly FPS.

I'm holding out on PS Plus for the moment unless one of the free games is something I'd like to play but I'll have it by the release of FIFA 18 latest... Which I suppose will probably be our first mutual game
