So I finally got GTA online to work. One of the first players I killed happened to be a Maltese who started swearing through the headset. He had no idea I could understand everything he was saying.

I've been playing it a bit. Unfortunately I suck at it because I'm used to playing Counter Strike :/

I'm kind of disappointed although I was expecting it. It's just BF 3.5 IMO. Even BC2 had more destruction than BF3 so the destruction in BF4 is nothing special and there are no graphical improvements. What they have improved is the hit detection.

Intel executive Chris R. Silva said “Somebody paid a lot of money to make sure that GTA V was exclusive,”

“At least with Grand Theft Auto I don’t think it’ll be console exclusive very long. But that’s what happens when you have a brand new launch with two companies that have lots of money trying to make sure they have content,” he added.

I know that there is an argument for console gaming, but for a PC gamer who has the rig to play games on high settings, I'd take PC every time. Also, GTA games are basically more fun because of the mods. Well, all games becomes fun because of the mods.

OMG YES! YES YES YES!
This is why I have now stopped caring about console exclusives. The companies who make them are two-faced money hugging bastards.
(Except for the Sly Cooper series, because those were the shit.)

Also can't wait to see what AMD's Mantle brings to the PC.

What? The APUs?
(Sorry if I'm wrong, haven't been catching up on my AMD too much).

Mantle is AMD's low level API to get console level optimization on PC (for now on AMD's GCN architecture GPUs but could be open source). The first game to take advantage of this API will be BF4 through a December update.

So AMD is targeting 100,000 draw calls per frame with Mantle. I read an interesting 2011 article about DirectX on how it is holding PC gaming back performance wise with its hefty overhead (I read around 40%, using Mantle will reduce that to 8%). It really is frustrating when you see that PC hardware is not utilized to its full potential like consoles. Imagine playing Crysis back in 2007 with constant 60FPS at 1080p using highest graphics settings with no struggle at all.

Still skeptical though on how much Mantle will improve performance. I guess we will found out next month in BF4. This could either be a big fail for AMD or a big win for PC gaming.
