Basically. But since WW2, for example, is tied to the previous World War and the Franco-Prussian war before that, it can sometimes stretch beyond that marker.

So you're basically studying about wars? :P

I have always wondered if no wars had occurred, our history books would have been pretty much empty. :-k
I have always hated history  , although my scores have been excellent when I was in school.

I wish you all the best with it. :D

For me history is a subject which interests me, but not to study it in a lot of detail for exams and so on.

And I hate it for that specific reason.

Studying to learn about our past is interesting but writing it down in the answer sheets, I have never liked that. :(

On another note, I have enjoyed a lot studying Chemistry especially Organic Chem and Maths too.

Wars are some of the most extreme events in human history, which is why they are also quite important. The sheer amount of people and area that were influenced by World War 2 is completely unprecedented. And we're not talking about a slow, gradual process, like urbanization or industrialization - a 6-year long (or more if you're from Far East Asia) event that burned as bright as the bombs that ended it. That is something I find fascinating.

^ I'm not denying the effect of wars. Just putting a thought across that if there had been none, our history would seem less interesting and history books, for that matter would be pretty much blank.

I've had three different books for different classes in school about 'Ancient', 'Medieval' and 'Modern' Indian history with hither-tither mention of world history. As for wars, too many have occurred in India and for all kinds of reasons. Heck, our mythological stories have mention of over-the-top wars.

It's just that I wonder what would have been of this world if no wars had ever occurred?
Perhaps, we always get things in pairs. May be to appreciate peace we needed those wars.

Oh boy! Too much in my head that I would rather not write. I never had any philosophical subjects, rather could not take them in combination with my science subjects. I have always admired philosophy though. Weird, aren't I? :? :)

I'm quite the opposite. I've never really liked those. I HAD to take a couple back in university, and a couple before that at school, but it never interested me. Just blame you sub-conscience for everything wrong and get along with it ;)
