Problem is many of our towns and villages are old (including where ramsej and I live) so several streets are narrow. We have many one-way streets and very few roads with more than 2 lanes without much space to move. Also many two-way streets with cars parked on both sides (often illegally) which don't allow more than one car to pass at the same time. So if you meet a huge pothole when there's traffic coming your way, not much you can do about it.
P.S. Not sure where you're from but I guess you drive on the right, so joke's lost on you.
