Best full-match of the Guardiola era (so far...)

Postby PunkCapitalist » Sun Apr 17, 2016 11:24 pm

So, which would it be according to you?

In my opinion Porto second leg was as close to perfection as we got in this era. The pressing and rhythm.. A complete team performance. The 7-1 Roma match was also pretty brilliant from the individual performances POV. The first half of Juve at Turin was astounding as well, specially because it was against a top top side (but that was only a half match performance, unfortunately...)

Hello, my name is Jancker and I'm a Pep hater by profession and I enjoy to see Bayern lose, IMO the best full match under Pep was the home defeat to RM. I was enjoying the game against Juve until Mueller scored and broke my heart. :P

Roma is shit in Europe, even MUFC beaten them once 8-1 or something like that... Beating Roma is like beating Hamburg.
Idk, that game against BVB maybe...

5-1 to Arsenal and Dortmund, 7-1 Roma, 6-1 Porto and 3-0 to City and Dortmund were good matches.

Best sucess with Pep was winning the european super cup.
Super-Bayern! Super-Bayern! Hey! Hey!

Difficult to define what the best match means, let alone choose one. I'd put them in two categories: one for the most representative Pep football at its best, which is the type of football I enjoy the most, and the other one for the most pleasurable matches to watch in general.

Best representation of Pep football:
Bayern 5-1 Arsenal 2015 Total domination of the game, hopelessly helpless opponent
Roma 1-7 Bayern 2014 Same as the Arsenal game
Dortmund 0-3 Bayern 2013 Götze brought on for the second half and absolutely changed everything. This is the distant past where Götze was meant to be our Messi...
Bayern 4-1 Mainz 2013 Same as the Dortmund game

The most enjoyable matches:
Dortmund 0-2 Bayern 2014 (Pokal) Legendary Javi Martinez performance
Bayern 4-2 Juventus 2016 Need I say more?
Bayern 6-1 Porto 2015 Again, need I say more?
Madrid 1-0 Bayern 2014 I know this is weird, but I thought we played amazing that match and was very unlucky not to score. Then I thought the second leg will be piss easy and then....

The matches against Atletico will be included after 2 weeks from now 8)

I think the game most representative of Pep's tactics was the 1-3 away win in Manchester.

Totally forgot about that. Definitely deserves a mention too.

Lewan's 15" demolition of Wolfsburg comes at a distant second.
