People dont understand the benefit of the electoral college. To relate it to football terms, Lets say the BuLi was going to vote for something, let say the maximum amount of money spent in a transfer window (this isnt important to my point). If there were 100 votes to be given out between the teams in the Buli it wouldn't be fair to give each team roughly 5(even for all teams) since teams like FCB, Dortmund, and Bayer Leverkusen are often the better teams and represent in Europe more times than not they will get more voting power, the smaller teams will have less power, but still have a say in it because they're still in the league. Bayern and BVB would be given more votes, maybe 10 each or so, then the rest would be given proportional to a certain criteria, maybe net worth, league spot, years in Europe play, and so on. The smaller teams would still have a say in the outcome of the vote, but teams like Bayern would have more say. To avoid the smaller teams not having any say, they could be given a minimum of 3 or so votes. The causes the smaller teams to be neccessary to vote for something to be passed, remaining relevant but not as controlling as the bigger teams.
The 15 smallest states based on popluation have a combined population of less than 15 million. The total population of the US is near 340 million. These states are mainly in the mid-west, if there was a popular vote system then the mid-west would have almost no say in what is decided for the country. Most of the food and special industries that are huge industries for the country come from this area, people in Cali or New York don't understand these problems in these industries. Cities are always the most populated areas, why should they alone decide the outcome of an ENTIRE country? Look at the voting maps, cities always vote liberal where more rural areas are ALWAYS conservative. This is b/c the liberal vote is more suitable for city people b/c they help them out more, while making it harder for rural industry and vice versa.
Bayern for life, I just want to see at least one game...thats all I ask
