If he would stay in Dortmund the chance of him playing in another Champions League final would be good and he would actually be one of the key players of the potential success. And by going to Bayern he chose money and trophies over his developement and also a good chance for trophies. At least thats how things look now.

Any update on his return? Yesterday I heard someone mention him and I was like, "Oh yeah, I forgot we have Thiago!"

I think he should be back in around a month. He was scheduled for mid November, and then he needs to gain fitness.

That's great news. Many of us are guilty of half forgetting players when they are injured. During the summer, Kroos was nearly thought of as bench material. Two weeks ago people were asking why we bought Goetze. Few are singing Alcantara's praises just now, but I'd like to stick my neck out and predict that he'll have at least one Man-of-the-Match award before the end of December. I'm looking forward to seeing him play again. Even if he wasn't playing, he had a lot of time to observe and think about Bayern's current system; I think he'll slot in very quickly, when he does return.

Before he was injured he was in good form and him and Kroos formed a much better central duo than anyone on the team while Schweinstieger was playing as a DM. I think i prefer a Thiago/Kroos duo because both are pretty similar players since they like controlling the tempo of the game and both are young talents

Yeah he was in good form, but Goetze's establishing himself now. Thiago will find it very hard to get playing time.

I think that Pep has enough faith in Thiago that whenever we play 2 games in a week he will either start one of them or come in off the bench in both. At least once he is 100% match fit

Apparently Pep said Thiago will not be fit for the match vs BvB

Here is the interview where Pep says Thiago wont make the BvB clash: [source]

Question on Thiago: can he make it for BVB game? Pep: No, I don't think so. However, after Basti's injury, we need him asap. But we also have Pierre or others. We'll try to fix as much as we can
