damn it, the timing of the injury couldn't be worse. He possesses a unique skill set that adds to Bayern's options in attack. His loss will be felt in this crucial part of the season

Poor Thiago, he's missed so much of this season already, he must be gutted. Get well soon champ, hope to see you pulling off those passes again soon.

The positive thing is that he won't undergo surgery

The negative is that he'll mostly miss rest of the season. Similar case to Toni Kroos last season.

Well, I would consider his first season here a success nonetheless! He started with an injury and ended with one, but in between, he's showing that being touted the next Xavi wasn't far off the mark (mostly I'd say he's a mixture between Xavi and Iniesta both, he's got the dribble and extra directness of the latter combined with the vision and patience of the former). I look forward to seeing him make a bid for an even greater role next season!

Haven't heard anything new so I assume he's still set to return in 2 or 3 weeks.

It was painful alright, painful to Pep's system. We can all name the players on one hand who have to be around to make his system work: in Barca it was Messi and Xavi, in Bayern it is Thiago.

“The defence has to get used to playing with the goalkeeper”

Any system will have such players. Heynckes couldn't win without Schweinsteiger and Ribery. Pep proved he can win without them but has struggled without Thiago.

We should look into getting a player with similar qualities.
