Just in time to follow up perfectly after yesterday's Cissé' rumours. It feels almost scripted.
God, are you there? Shut up son, Gómez is scoring!

Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez is set to face Werder Bremen in this weekend's crunch German league clash, despite pulling out of training on Wednesday, the Bavarian giants have confirmed.

The 26-year-old has scored 13 league goals in 13 games this season and took a painful knock to his right shin in training ahead of Saturday's home game against Bremen, but the club told SID, an AFP subsidiary, he is set to play.

After receiving the knock at Bayern's training ground, Gomez was treated for several minutes before he headed off to the changing rooms, but is expected to face play at Munich's Allianz Arena.

Having lost to Dortmund and Mainz in their last two league games, Bayern are third in the Bundesliga, just two points ahead of fourth-placed Bremen. League leaders Dortmund are at second-placed Moenchengladbach on Saturday.

SI's Honigstein is as prolific about Bayern as some of our own scorers. Here, a piece about the German striker.

Robben we all have learned to handle. Gomez however, we'd be screwed without.

Seriously, I didn't realize I was writing in the Injury section. Funnily enough, I did a search using the keyword 'Mario' in order to find the right thread but had to go through four pages before finding Gómez's. Apparently Mario Goetze is a waaaay more popular topic.

I would suggest - in order to avoid these scares - to keep just one thread for each player. :?: .

Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes has insisted that the injury which forced Mario Gomez off in Saturday’s friendly win over Al-Ahly is nothing serious.

The in-form striker lasted just 11 minutes of the game in Qatar after taking a knock to his right foot which left him experiencing serious discomfort in his big toe.

However, Heynckes revealed afterwards that he had only withdrawn the Germany hitman as a precautionary measure.

"There is no serious injury,” the Bavarians’ boss told the club’s official website. “He could no longer turn. But I hope that he can return to training on Sunday.”

Bayern won the game 2-1, courtesy of an injury-time strike from Ivica Olic, with Mohammad Barakat having earlier cancelled out team-mate Ahmed el Sayed’s first-half own-goal.

Looks like I was right when I thought it was a precautionary measure.

The reason why Gomez was subbed out of the match against M'gladbach was that he was injured at the hip. It is not clear if his pain would have gone away by Saturday, but the assumption is that he will play in any case.

Gomez needs to take a rest at some point anyway. He's been playing, what, ALL the games?
