Australia is a pretty nice place ya know. Maybe he could enjoy a belated honeymoon there. Plus he’s rich he could (Bayern could) rent a private jet and be there in less than 24 hours. Australia has a pretty decent health care system too.

Also when the No. 1 goalkeeper faces another potential 4 months on the sidelines, a long flight to help him heal quicker would be the last of my concerns.

And there could be something to that hot/cool weather impact on injuries I believe. For me personally (I know this is just an anecdote) knocks hurt more during the winters and in summers they heal much quicker. I guess it might have something to do with blood circulation being less in cold winters.

Well, unless he takes after Boateng...

But I guess he needs to be evaluated by Bayern medical team every now and then and also do exercises and reha. He can't just go to Australia and enjoy life :P

How about someplace in Africa, or maybe India? Hell how about down south in Texas, Louisiana or Florida? =P~

I'm shocked to see that he is still on crutches.

The recovery shall last longer than many people thought at first since that Real Madrid match was very fatal for his foot. I think he'll be back next year. When exactly? Doesn't matter as long as he's recovering and leaving behind this serious injury, but I guess in February he could be ready to return.

Meh I don't know. They were talking about March, no? That sounds to me like they took it preeeeeetty easy with him so that it heals the right way all that. I think if he stays out longer than that, then THAT would be risking the World Cup starting place.

The whole thing is absurd. When he had the same injury to his other foot in 2008, he was out for 70 days. This time, it started on March 30th 2017; if we're talking March 2018 now, it's almost a year.

I too find this weird. Must be a really bad fracture, he should have got operated back in March itself, rather than rushing back for the Real QF, but hindsight is 20/20!

Two other possible factors why he could be taking long to recover:
1. Age - He is over 30 now and was much younger back then. As you get older you produce lesser HGH and HGH is one of the most potent hormones that helps in recovering from Orthopedic injuries.
2. Weather - I checked on Transfermarkt and it says his previous injury lasted from July-September. If I am not wrong, those are summer months and the circulation is usually better than during the colder months. As it stands the winter has started in Germany.

I don’t want him hurrying up at all. In fact if and when he recovers and starts participating in team training, I’d like him to play at least one full amateur game before being thrown into the frantic April-May fixtures.

Circulation? I think this is a bone fracture. Not sure this applies. :?:

Bone is a highly vascular tissue....blood carries oxygen, nutrients, etc to the bone. Generally speaking, poor circulation (less blood flow) will slow down the recovery process and vice-versa.

He's been injured since March 30th. That's including all summer. I don't think you can just put the blame on the weather.
