Damn... time really flies. Crazy that we're starting to look towards another World Cup. 2014 seems like just yesterday...

The midfoot is critical in stabilizing the arch and in walking (gait). During walking, the midfoot transfers the forces generated by the calf muscles to the front of the foot.

The midfoot joint complex is also called the Lisfranc joint. It is named after French surgeon Jacques Lisfranc de St. Martin, who served in the Napoleonic army in the 1800s.

The Lisfranc joint complex has a specialized bony and ligamentous structure, providing stability to this joint. [source]

Even if healthy he was not going to be called up for that most likely. Bierhoff has declared that they are taking an experimental team to Russia. It will be a bit of a difficult mix given that the Euro U-21 are going on at the same time, so they probably don't want to plunder too much from them either. Brandt, Goretzka, Meyer, Dahoud, Arnold, Oztunali have formed a good core for the U21 and I wouldn't like to see them broken up without having a chance to win the tournament. Don't forget what the 2009 championship did for that team in building their confidence for next year.

I expected to see Neuer, Boa, Hummels, Howedes, Kroos, Khedira, Ozil, Gotze and Muller rested anyway. Weigl as well probably, he's played way too much for Dortmund. If healthy and willing Reus and Draxler will be asked to go and I could see them both accept, they need to play a bit more with the national team. Kimmich, Mario Gomez, Hector will most likely go as well. They either didn't play in Europe or didn't play that much during the season anyway. Guys like Sule, Mustafi, Can, Rudy, Werner, Sane will make up the rest of the team. I expect Lars Stindl might get a call too.

He's been training individually since the start of the week, according to a Bayern press release. He's doing strength training, and running in that special tent shaped machine that reduces gravity.

I hope when he comes back he doesn't stop doing my favourite Neuer move of the quasi-split save.

Maybe not the right thread for this but I wanted to point out that in the U21 game yesterday the GK often ran out to get the ball outside the penalry my area. I haven't seen any other games from that tournament so I don't know if he's been doing that regularly, but I've also noticed it with some other young German GKs.

It's an interesting phenomenon going on in German youth systems. Neuer has truly changed the concept of the GK, at least in Germany.
