Can't actually believe some of the above posts. Did you just compare treble-Schweinsteiger's creativity with Vidal's? Both are world class obviously but comparing Vidal-Javi and Schweini-Javi is a little bit ridiculous. Schweinsteiger was perfection. Engine, ball-winner, creator, controller, goalscorer, leader. Vidal, even though he's still the best midfielder we could possibly have right now, is only half of those things. Schweinsteiger was worth both Vidal and Thiago.

Our creative midfield produced some of the most creative goals ever seen, like unstoppable Saul and Morata.

Saul was a plane crash. Any professional football player should've stopped that.

OK, I know I've contributed earlier, but I have to pull out the offtopic card now because it's getting too much. Please continue on the tactics thread.

LoL.

And by the way. There was one gave under Pep that he deployed the so called "treble formation": was against Real Madrid in the AA. Yeah, that went really well.

Formation doesn't mean a twat. You can play 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-4-1 or 3-4-3 for all I care. It's the way you deploy the tactics. It wouldn't make any difference with any of the above formations under Pep because we always played with high defensive line and almost always the goal was possession per se, possession for the sake of it. Yes, we had possession under Jupp too, like die hard Guardiolista's like to emphasise, but that was completely different kind of possession: we played with intent, more directly and loosing the ball wasn't almost always suicidal. But in last three years when we lost the ball, the opponent with enough quality had clear cut chances, not some half chances from difficoult angles like we did. In short, I agree with Ancelotti, who recently said iirc just that: that formations are not that important, it's the way you play.

And about Gervinho, as far as I recall, the team did their job already in London (3:1), though it came close in return game. But there were many games like that thorugh the years (BVB : RM) that were close on the score line, but miles away on the pitch.

Speaking to Kicker, Boateng said: “I’m on the right path. But this coming week, I’ll still probably be only able to do running and fitness training.”

He added that it was key he “take time to get really fit and stay fit”, and that “everything else doesn’t make sense.” [source]

Hence the setback. I'm just hoping he'll be back by the Atletico match.

Well, we are in desperate need for him at the moment. Hummels and Martinez are doing a very good job at the back. Boateng is a key player for us, and that's why we should make sure that his injury is 100% gone.

Boateng didn't participate in today's final training session for the German NT, yet Löw said in his presser that he's confident he can play tomorrow. So when exactly are Bayern gonna give Löw the finger???

It's partly on the player too... he can say that he isn't feeling OK. We'll have 7 games in 21 days after the Int. break.

He has a knee problem but Bayern can plan with him for the weekend... he should get a break in any case when he didn't get one with the NT. I would give him that break whether he wants it or not.
