Initial diagnosis on Ribery claim a suspected fracture of the lower leg and a twisted knee, which would unfortunately mean that he will be out injured well into next season.

Latest news coming out of France say he suffered a sprained ankle and nothing's broken. We'll have to wait for confirmation.

Sportbild confirms that Ribery has not been badly injured and should be ready to play from the start of next season.

I really hope it's not serious, it looked pretty bad...

The thing that worries me most is that some players lose their form after serious injury...Look at schweinsteiger or sagnol.Some players never recover 100%

Yes some. Not Santa Cruz though. But it has to be a serious injury and a long lay off to loose their 100% form.

Fifa.com says that Bayern has said that Ribery will be out for seven to eight weeks with an ankle ligament injury. That seriously sucks, but at least the season still won't have started by then. I'm sure Franck will be able to pick up where he left off when he gets back. (Hopefully sooner rather than later!)

One thing is for sure... he will miss the preseason, who's importance should not be underestimated. He will then probably undergo a specially tailored programme to get him physically fit on par with the others.

Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery will miss the start of the Bundesliga season, as Doctor Ludwig Seebauer has revealed that the attacking midfielder will only be able to come back to action in September.

The France international picked up an ankle sprain in France’s Euro 2008 meeting with Italy, and was stretchered off the pitch after nine minutes following a challenge with Gianluca Zambrotta.

Ribery was operated on last Thursday in Germany and will need to go under the knife for a second time in six weeks to remove a screw that helps consolidate his ankle.

Bayern have announced that their star will follow a rehabilitation programme at Sabener Strasse performance centre.

“He will be fit next September, if everything goes in the good way,” Seebauer said.

The winger will also miss France’s next friendly game against Sweden in August.

MUNICH, Germany (AFP) — French midfielder Franck Ribery took part in full training with Bayern Munich on Thursday for the first time since his Euro 2008 ankle injury and expects to play again by the end of September.

Having torn ankle ligaments in June, Ribery, 25, trained with his team-mates under new Bayern coach Jurgen Klinsmann in Munich watched by more than a thousand fans.

"He is working day after day with more energy, Franck is getting more and more confidence," said Klinsmann.

The Bayern boss expects Ribery to return for the German giants on September 27 for the Bundesliga match against Hannover.

The Frenchman damaged his ankle playing for his country in the 2-0 defeat at the hands of Italy on Tuesday June 17 during the Euro 2008 group stages and underwent surgery two days later.

That means that he's gonna be absent for the first CL clash vs Steaua which sucks , with him in the squad things would have
been easier in Romania
