It's not all bad:
Alaba, Lewandowski, Rode, Thiago, Pizarro, Rafinha, Badstuber, Hojbjerg and now Ribery will all be well rested when the season begins and they will have the chance to do the entire pre-season program with Pep, which is especially useful for the new players (Lewandowski, Rode) and players returning from injury (Thiago, Badstuber and RIbery) and Hojbjerg, who might be able to use this chance to play an even bigger role in the quad next season.
In addition, Ribery just needs to get rid of his injury and regain his form, which wouldnt be likely if he played int he world cup

It's hard to say if it's better...this is a devastating blow for him and France as well...probably would have been his last WC (as a starter and certainly the last as a key player). He may be rested physically, but no way to tell how this will affect him mentally.

Really feel bad for him, it looked like he started playing well again against Dortmund in the final.

Oops. Not at all, I'm not wishing anyone sick; but Ribéry's been on every single newspaper here and suddenly the idea -a very scant one at that - of making it to the next WC round just overwhelmed me. I hope he gets better (not in the next two weeks).

Well whatevs, Griezmann should give us a run for our money at the Maracaná vs France.

Ribery is now 31 years old 1 month of strenuous world cup during off-season would not have any positive effect on his fitness.Another thing is, his morale is very low currently and since he did not play in practice games for France i don't think he would have been at his best during world cup this would not have helped his cause.Don't take me wrong i am also not happy that he is injured.....another big name goes missing this world cup.I wrote what i had on hindsight, that it is better for him and bayern as well.

How sad... another star missing for the WC! and Nasri still being left out... although I imagine he would have accepted to go with the team.
I've just saw a report on sportmediaset - he is mentally broken :( He said something like his soul is dead...

To be fair we did play him for 80 mins in a cup final, knowing fully well he was still not fit. If it was the other way around we'd be pointing fingers the same way...just saying :P

He was a forced sub. Lahm went out injured and we practically had no other choice. I find it hard to believe that the Pokal final is the reason for him to miss the World Cup. He's been training normally ever since then and any knock would have caused him to miss the event. FFF are just starting to play the "blame" game.
