My theory is that he faked his injury because he is scared of playing against Mark van Bommel in the Audi Cup

Kroos had a bad season last year (benched, played out of position, etc.). I am sure that he will leave it all behind him and take his chance this year and we all know what he can do at LAM.

AvatarX wrote:but he may yet be fit for the first competitive match of the new campaign, the DFB Cup trip to Eintracht Braunschweig on 1 August...

I don't think he should play in this came in any case, unless we have no other choice. We shouldn't have any problems against them with or without Ribery, so no point in risking

He's too slow for that. Muller could potentially move there, and move Kroos to CAM.

I'm just still pissed at our board, and the stupidity in transfers.

He is slow, yes, but he's proven that he can be good there in the past.

Judging from Heynckes's comments it looks like Alaba will be Ribery's backup though :D

I wonder if Usami will eventually get a shot there as well. He has the pace and dribbling skill to do it.

Alaba makes a fine backup to Ribéry -- he is very versatile and can play elsewhere too -- but expecting Ribéry to be injured frequently I guess he will have plenty of play time coming up.

Usami looks like a good option if Ribery and Robben arent back in time for the new season

Offtopic but to be honest judging by preseason Usami, Alaba, and especially Kroos all deserve to be starters. I wonder who will be the number one backup

It will contradict Heynckes's idea of "only 100% fit players will play"....
