Not saying I want to see Shaqiri at LB, but has anyone even seen him play effectively there? just curious. He would obiously be a wing-back type player, but never seen him in a defense role requiring more tackling. He is agressive and scrappy -- but I thought that Rafinha was more of a winger who plays at RB and who is agressive and scrappy and Rafinha is OK but not the best.

I think Alaba will be missing a crucial time in pre-season and to get him back up and to the form we have seen him, I only fear he will be criticized and won't be the starter we had hoped. I guess it depends on how he heals and comes back. I mentioned agreeing to another signing, but I am at odds over this.

Next time, we should go back in time to March 2011 and kill Pandev before he kills our hopes for the season.

Really nice job from Napoli... Only what comforts me is Contento chance to show his best and perhaps establish in the first 11.

So he'll be out of crutches as soon as the Bundesliga starts... I reckon he'll be back by the fourth game... which would mean away against Schalke.

Off-topic: I just realized that between the 22nd and 29th of Septmeber, we are playing away against Schalke and Bremen and at home against Wolfsburg.
