After just 17 minutes of Bayern’s 2-0 DFB Cup quarter-final victory over Stuttgart on Wednesday, Bastian Schweinsteiger hobbled from the field with injury. Following an examination and MRI scan by Bayern chief medical officer Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt on Thursday morning, the midfielder was diagnosed with ankle ligament damage, specifically a torn anterior exterior ligament in the right ankle.
The injured joint was immediately put in plaster. Schweinsteiger will wear the cast for a week, before being fitted with a special protective shoe, allowing him to commence sports rehab training. “We’ll issue an estimate of when Bastian should be able to train and play again at a later date,” Dr. Müller-Wohlfahrt informed fcbayern.de.

I could walk after 3 or 4 days, but running took me some more ( like 2 weeks) , the main problem was when i came back training, it twisted again alone and then a couple 2 or 3 times more after that.
So my concern is that this could be a permanent issue for him.

It's not that bad. Sorry to hear about your injury problems, but with all respect to the medical team that treated you, I am ready to bet my arm and leg that they didn't work with the skill and dedication as to the kind of treatment Bastian will get. Bayern will make sure he gets the best possible treatment and service, rest assured.

On transfermarkt.de they have put it down to mid-March, but I don't know if they have a source or whether it's just some guess.
