Vidal injured himself during the international break and despite that started for the Sevilla away game.

I like him a lot as a player and I believe his injury is a big blow to our midfield but at times he doesn’t use his brain smartly when making decisions.

I know he is super patriotic and all but going to play for Chile when they aren’t even going to Russia in the summer was a silly decision on Vidal’s part. Should’ve stayed in Bavaria and rested and recuperated for the difficult part of the season. On top of that he stubbornly played against Sevilla despite not being a 100% and got reinjured. (Part of the blame also goes to the Bayern medical team and sadly Jupp too)

Vidal’s pressing and defensive work would’ve been crucial against Leverkusen and Real Madrid so he will be missed. Tolisso will have to step up in Vidal’s absence.

What’s Jupp got to do with it? The doctors give their okay, ultimately the decision is the player’s - but what the heck does the coach have to do with it? He's gotta trust those two parties...

The coach makes the final decision about the starting eleven and the bench. So yeah he does shoulder a bit of blame.

Looks like Jupp learned his lesson though because he did not play Alaba in the home leg against Sevilla and then took him off tomorrow.

I’m starting to entertain the whole witch-doctor conspiracy. Other top teams don’t seem to have nowhere near as many injuries as we do...

Thiago-Javi. No room for Tolisso at this point in a match this big.

Vidal shouldn't have been a starter anyway.

Of course I hope his injury isn't severe and he heals up quickly, i'd never wish injury on any player (except maybe Casemiro...sorry not sorry)....but to be completely honest: healthy or not I don't think Vidal should be starting vs Madrid.
Guarantee the moment he touched the pitch, Madrid players #1 job would be to bait him into getting into card trouble ASAP. I know many will make the (unsupported) claim that Thiago fails to show up in big games, but frankly for a LONG time now when Vidal starts a match and Thiago replaces him we immediately get MUCH better. We are a more complete/fluid team with Javi-Thiago-James IMO. Healthy or not that would have been my starting midfield vs Madrid, so that doesn't change for me.

He would have played together with Javi in Madrid. If anything I'm more positive to see a good performance from us with just one of those two... If Javi also gets injured we're probably done though.

Had Chile qualified for the WC I would have understood him going for international duty but this was big mistake on Vidal’s part. He has himself to blame.
