He is in love with his national team very much indeed, and he's the captain. I'd prefer if he just leaves, but he earns a massive respect for that in my book.

I hope they don't qualify just so he can rest a bit more throughout the year.

If they don't qualify he should just retire.

And he shouldn't rush his comeback just because the Dutch wants to.

His comeback is forcasted for Oct; exactly in time for another International break... It is not fair if he answers the Netherlands call.
He picked up the injury playing for the Netherlands, had to stop for a month and as soon as he returns to match fitness he will be back for the Netherlands... Not fair at all... FCB shall refuse to let him go.

Dude his COUNTRY,his HOMELAND needs him!
He is their sole hope.People are willing to sacrifice their lives for their country.
He should go ahead Country comes before everything else.If it means pissing off bayern then so be it.No other choice.
I would imagine he would do so.

Not sure if playing for your country's selection pays, but Bayern is his main employer and main source of income. I think he would respect that. Although I can see someone arguing that he's Netherland's sole hope. I'd maybe change sole to best hope.

He loves his country more than his employer. Do you love your employer more than your country?

I'm a bad example, but I get your point. What good is he for his country if he can't even complete matches without getting injured though? It's a bit of an extreme as he's not ALWAYS injured for his country, but I can maybe count once or twice when Robben was injured playing for Bayern compared to the vast majority of his injuries coming from int'l matches. Like you said people love their country, that love can translate to intensity on the pitch... the international scene may just be too intense for him.

Lol, no. Not at all. Nationalities are overrated. Wealth and personal glory come way before.

AFAIK as per FIFA statutes neither Robben nor FCB can refuse a call of the Dutch national team, unless the Dutch FA agrees.

There's nothing to prevent Robben from saying he still feels pain in his leg and hasn't recovered properly. It's another thing if he wants to play

He's not the Netherlands captain for nothing, guys. He has extra responsibility.

Just realised we have quite the contingent of captains in our squad... Robben for Holland, Lewa for Poland, Benatia for Morocco, and obviously Lahm would be captain of Germany if he was still active. Javi also captained the Spain u21s
