My match ratings.
Ter Stegan - 7
Kimmich - 9
Boateng - 7.5
Hummels - 7
Plattendhart - 7
Rudy - 9
Kroos - 6.5
Draxler - 5
Goretzka - 5
Thomas - 5
Wagner - 8

Can - 6
Sane - 5
Stindl - N/A

Löw needs to plan for teams that’ll press high up because NI looked threatening when they did that and Germany looked rattled.

Pep, Ancelotti and now Jupp are all expected to fix Muller's basics like his awful first touch?
I'm not sure if we can post video links here, but have a look at these highlights at the 4:50 mark.

Cross field ball, no pressure on him and look at the end result which is a hopeful punt into the box.

It's time to get past the original hype (from 6 yrs ago ) and accept Mueller for what he is. A very good top level professional with an uncanny ability of taking up good positions and finding space and an eye for goal. That is all. He never was and never will be a player who makes a difference on his own. For someone whose first touch is so poor, loses the ball often, can never win a physical contest, his abilities need supporting players to thrive.

All his supporters have is excuses, Oh striker isn't his best position, no he isn't meant for the wings or he needs a more verstaile partner when paired in attach. I'll tell you what his best position is, it's the bench.

In my opinion, Mueller does not get into either the Bayern or NT best XI. He is a fantastic option to bring on from the bench when the game is being chased, that's about it.

I have to say Mr Loew is a genius coach, he's turned a good collective players into such an effective team. His tactical plans have changed radically to fit the players he has.

Just look at Argentina, they have one hell of a team with superb talents: Messi, dylaba... but cannot win against Peru at home and it seems they have to stay home and say farewell to Messi from NT.

Next match, Loew should give Mueller another chance to practice.

---------------Stindl

----Sane-------Mueller-----Brandt

-----------Rudy--------Goretzka

Plattenhardt---Mustafi--Rudiger---Ginter

btw, why Henrichs is not called up this time ? any body knows?

Boateng comeback mean one defender must stay home, Heinrich is lowest one on defense ranking at the moment.

Doesn't make sense to leave a FB at home because a CB comes back. There is no back-up in case anything happens to Kimmich (unless he's going to transfer Rudy back on RB again). Would make more sense to leave Mustafi at home.

Henrichs is with the U21, just like Klostermann.

Agreed, or Ruediger. Or both if Hoewedes comes back along nicely.

Rudiger and Sule are pretty damn good and they can keep Hummels and Boateng on their toes. Mustafi seems to be the casualty. Howedes would’ve been nice but Rudiger is a lot more pacy and Sule is a physical brute.
Four CBs should be good for a 7 match tournament but let’s see what happens.

That's what I think as well, those 4 are the guaranteed ones to go to the WC if no injuries happen. But given the lack of depth at the FB position, there might be an extra CB going as well.

Kimmich... man I don't want to jinx the boy, he is something else.

And Jogi Loew, whatever his critics say, he is building his 3rd generation team right now and it's been smooth sailing after smooth sailing.

Funnily enough, goalimpact (imo the best possible method to evaluate players statistically) has consistently shown Müller as one of the best players in the world, even the best for a long stretch of time. It doesn't matter what is that he does on the field, it's undeniable that it produces more goals for his teams.
