Netherlands vs Germany

Netherlands vs Germany
Competition: Euro 2012
Venue: Metalist Stadium, Kharkiv (neutral venue)

In their second group stage match, Germany will meet the Netherlands who will be desperately looking for their first win if they want any chance to make it to the Euro 2012 quarterfinals.

Will Germany manage to make the most of Holland's seemingly shaky defence, or will they succumb to their formidable attack?

Do you guys think Podolski will or should play? I think he shouldn't, based on his last performance, but I think Loew wouldn't have the guts to drop him.

I think he should, as he can help Lahm in marking Robben, but probably this time I hope that Schuerrle will come at about 65th-70th minute (or even better Reus who can help in our counter attacks as this would probably be our style of play in this match).

EDIT:
I guess I will be the minority believing that Podolski should start, but still, apart from his contribution in defense, it is a match in were we could use experienced players - at least for the first minutes.

BTW this match along with some others is a good reason to watch Euro.

Netherlands will attack with everything they've got (and they have a lot in their attacking area tbh), leaving huge gaps in their already weak defense that we can exploit.

Probably a lot of goals and a good, entertaining match.

Personally I have predicted a 3-1 Germany win, but I would not be surprised if more goals are in the way (for both teams).

Go Germany !

Yeah, this is gonna be Poldi's last chance. If he can't make an impact against a poor Dutch defense playing fairly high up the pitch, then he has nothing more to contribute to the team.

I hope they play the same players as against Denmark.

I think Goetze and Reuss should play at this game, counter-attacking is what they do! I can see him starting one of these guys or Schrulle.

I think Reus Ozil and Muller should start

with Gotze coming in place for Reus or Ozil

and Klose coming in place for Gomez

Poldi must start, Lahm wasn't himself with portugal, and in case he can't find his form with Netherlands, Poldi will back him up. Schurrle is better in technical attack but isn't as balanced.

i think it should be Gomez, Poldi Ozil Reus, Khedira Schwein, Boateng Hummels Badstuber Lahm.

I think Podolski should have been the first substitution vs Portugal and I do agree this should be his last chance to make a contribution. For some reason he keeps trying to make every opportunity into a SOG no matter how many defenders are blocking him. Schürrle is catching up fast on his long shots which should have convinced Löw he has got a real alternative up left by now.

BTW, has anyone found any other source for this other than goal?

Hehe.... Goal.com:

"However, doubts have been raised over whether Schweinsteiger is now fit enough to play two games within the space of four days, and if he fails to pass a fitness test, Low could opt for Kroos instead in the centre of mifield."

It's just a too much hypothetical sentence. DOUBTS is a very vague word, and of course IF he fails to pass the fitness test, Kroos COULD play (Kroos is the other option for CM anyway, so obviously he could play there if Schweini can't).

It's like the Oracle of Delphi talking. No clear statement, with many ifs that can go either way :)
