They will qualify but I think that if they don't, it will be Ghana not the USA. We'll see tonight.

I think it was only Boateng, Ozil and Khedira who didn't sing.

While I haven't been a fan of some of Loew's choices lately, it's hard to complain after today. Having Kross, Gotze, and Ozil on the pitch together really frees up space for other players' movement.....Muller in particular.

Gotze has got to be quicker pulling the trigger. He had a few chances to attempt a shot on goal, but seemed hesitate instead of firing at first touch.

Hummels was a beast out there. Boateng and Howedes were solid defensively as well.

Ronaldo was obviously not 100%, not that it would've mattered. He had to be spectacular for Portugal to have any chance. He wasn't.

Portugal is done. Tonight's USA/Ghana match could very well be a match for 2nd place in the group.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MULLER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great game, Great start!

BTW just saw some statistics of world cup scorers:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_FIFA_World_Cup_goalscorers

Muller with this rate is close to the other Muller in terms of goal ratio. Someone should keep in mind that he is only 24, still has at least 4-5 games for this WC and at least 2 WCs ahead of him. I would bet anything that he will surpass Ronaldo before he gets 29.

Also another interesting thing is that he is not playing as a real striker.

Rude. USA have been playing well and this is a mediocre Portugal team ravaged by injuries.

Personally I consider it basically a deadlock between the bottom 3 teams in this group. Tonight's Ghana vs USA game is probably the single most important in determining who wins second place. Portugal ought to pray for a tie because I find it highly unlikely that they are able to win out

Muller is a striker even when he's not a striker. :D

I'm not sure I've seen anything like him. The guy doesn't need a position. No matter where you line him up, he just scores goals in big matches when you need them...

Player ratings from the Daily Telegraph, one of the better UK newspapers:

I agree with most of them...
