A nice, typical German NT game, with Klose and Muller as almost always in the right place and time to score the goals and Oezil doing some magic just to bitter us for not getting him in the summer :)

Klose now has 8 goals with NT in Euro 2012 qualifiers (top scorer with Huntelaar). He has a ratio of 1.6 goals per game. Quite impressive stats IMHO. If only he could reproduce this with FC Bayern ...

LOL lucky bitches :) I was there and I have to admit it was very disappointing. The ref (Weiner) made a huge mistake in the 85' min or so when he stopped the match to red card Sokratis when Malta where through 3 attackers against 1 defender rather than allowing play on. It might have been a very different result. Either way, this was pretty embarrassing for Greece, as I am sure you will admit ;)

Ref stopped that for a strange red card (Papastathopoulos wasn't the last defender and the tackle wasn't that strong), because Malta lost the ball after that tackle, so there was no advantage. Greece always has many problems playing in a match not being underdogs anyway...

If you call a game where one team is only defending and the other is unable to score, then yes, it was a contest - a pretty boring one. And as I said, Malta has to score to make it a contest :)

The 4 Goals

Schweinsteiger and Ozil passing and Set pieces were sick

but Oezil's Assist to Muellers goal for 3-0 is Just indescribable

Not really news, I could've told you that Mertesacker is a slow defender a day before the match  (Tavalodet mobarak! :) )
But seriously, having him in the starting lineup could prove costly later on , I would much rather have Friedrich.
And how was Badstuber doing? I didn't have time to see the match.
I'll paint any car for 3.95.

He wasn't as visibly preblematic as Per was, but the defense wasn't really tested much anyway.
The ideal team

When the ref whistled the ball was at the feet of another Maltese attacker and everyone in the stadium offended the ref!

Bored with the way Greece played and very disappointed with the performances of Germany NT then.

I am not a fan of defensive football anyway (although many times a good defense can win you games and trophies in football as Greece - or Inter - showed).

Yeah... and I agree with you... I have posted it during the match that even trying this CB-duo does not make sense to me...
Mertesacker is very slow naturally, but worse than that, he has been in shitty form for the whole season...

But it was not the main point of the article... It was mainly about JLo's conservatism towards changing his starting players, generally, when they are proved to be in a bad form, and how it might (will) negatively affect Germany's preparation for a major tournament or against great opponents.... And that's something that should be deliberately pondered by the whole NationalMannschaft management...

Re: [2011-03-26] Germany vs Kazakhstan

Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has admitted that it wasn't for the Nationalelf to play against a defensive team like Kazakhstan, but was nonetheless pleased with his side's 4-0 win.

"The fans always want a spectacle, but it is not easy playing a team that drops back to within 30 metres of their goal. With such a lead, you can try different things, we tried different ways of passing the ball but it didn't work out," he was quoted as saying by uefa.com.

"The important thing was putting the match beyond doubt in the first half. We now have an eight-point lead and we are in a very good position. Our goal is to qualify as soon as possible."

The Bayern Munich star then went on to point out that Germany have already convinced in the past as a force to be reckoned with at big tournaments.

"And we have shown in the past that we can put in top performances in a World Cup or European Championship," he concluded.
