This is a real test for Germany to see how much the national team has really grown since we tend to struggle against the Italians. I'm looking forward to see the national team play now since some of our promising players in the WC are now considered stars in Europe (e.g. Muller, Ozil), but on top of that we have new talent (e.g. Goetze, Hummels) that hopefully will show that Germany will be up there, among the best, for years to come.

Also the fact that Bundesliga has surpassed Serie A in European ranking, so I hope this can be reflected at the national team level.

Please Germany, score at least 3 goals. That'd be amazing.

Let's hope Die Mannschaft can continue playing at the same level as WC2010.
I'd love to see the Italians humiliated.

I want us to avenge our defeat in 2006. We should show them that not only our clubs are better but also the NT.

If Both teams play exactly like they played in WC2010

We will probably see the biggest loss of italy in their History

Germany Humiliated England , and Argentina with MESSI and scored 4 against both

Italy had the easiest group in the world cup and failed to advance !!!

Italy had the easiest group in the world cup and ended up last in their group, below New Zealand

I don't think the German players will play with the same passion they showed during the world cup. I'm not expecting a big win.

Re: [2011-02-09] Germany vs Italy

Postby quaazi » Fri Feb 04, 2011 1:34 pm

Italy played us (Estonia) in the autumn, and VERY BARELY won. In fact, we went ahead 1-0, after which they just flooded the box during corners and got two plain lucky goals resulting from the confusion in the box. We actually did a better game than the italians, who had a nice and young team too of whom much was/is expected, but luck wasn't on our side (because it had helped us earlier against the... Faroes :(). So what I'm saying is that if Italy plays like they did against us months ago, they will get so brutally raped by the Germans that the police will stop the game and charge the NT with assault and rape, locking up all the players and spelling doom for German football for years to come. :P

Also, Oliver Bierhoff has thrown down the gauntlet, saying that the Bundesliga is better than the Serie A and claiming that the germans will get the italians' Champions League spot soon. So both teams do have a bit more to prove than in a regular friendly.
The ideal team

--------Müller with gloves--------
-Müller--Müller--Müller--Müller--
-------Müller---------Müller-------
----Müller----Müller----Müller----
---------------Müller---------------

I would like to see Badstuber partnering Hummels in central defence. They will be the backbone of defence in future, and this is a great match for them to start in.

I would be very happy if:

- Mertesacker is benched and Hummels takes his place :)
- We see (R)Müller----Özil---Götze(L) at some part of the match :D
