If I'm not mistaken Italy haven't beaten world champions since 1990.

I'll quote the post from another thread:

FCBayernMunchen wrote:The gap has never been bigger in Germany's favour. It's now or never. These Italian players have never before faced a defence stronger than theirs. Italy are weak up front. We just need one good shot.

I believe that if Neuer is on top of his game, we will go through even if Italy nullify our midfield like they did to Spain.

Since Italy last beat Germany, Real Madrid beat Bayern 4-0 in Munich and Leicester City won the Premier League. No need to fear history.

Have you seen them play in this tournament? Their attacking game is fast, well thought-out and generally strong. They don't have great names but they create a great team, they work together very well. Their defence is freaking mental as well. I think they're presenting complete football in this tournament. Finding weaknesses here will be almost an impossible task. I think Germany is playing very well as well but I wouldn't consider them favourites (50-50 game imo). This should be a very tight game, I'm hoping it won't dissapoint.

Poland - Italy / Germany in the Euro final, you heard it here first. 8)

I meant the strikers in particular. They haven't impressed me.

They are definitely very strong as a team and have a brilliant defence, but this time they're up against an equally strong or stronger defence. Italy are a team that doesn't score much in general. I expect them to struggle a lot against the quality of Germany's backline.

Insigne will be a massive threat.

8 official games between the two. FOUR wins for Italy and FOUR draws...

overall 33 matches...
8 wins for Germany
10 draws
15 wins for italy

Italy is always a tough opponent, but it's now or never for this generation against them. 2006, Germany really didn't have all that great of a team, 2012 no consistency no real impressive play, but now, world champions, Low has found his squad, and Germany is the better team. Motta is important for Italy in front of the center backs, and he is out. The Italy team against Spain did not create that many chances, but are strong in the back. On set pieces, Germany have enough strong, tall players to stymie them. Schweinsteiger, I think, will start this match, and I think he needs to. Press the Italians into their own half, be patient, and let Draxler and Muller/Ozil work on their wing-backs, Florenzi and Di Sciglio. The only thing that can kill Germany is nerves, but after 2014, I'm not sure it will get them this time.

That friendly win should help with nerves. We said it back in March

Agree. Although I never take friendlies into consideration, both teams fielded relatively strong sides in this game, which is rare for Germany especially. But this will be a different game.

Also, Brazil hadn't lost at home in almost 40 years. This German team can handle negative history.

Germany are too hot to handle at this present moment even for the italians, they'll win the whole thing.
