I did not see that... especially in the first exchanges...

Well the Bayern players weren't exactly motivated in that game up until we scored our first goal. :P

The italians certainly weren't motivated. I feel like they'll have the last laugh when it comes to the EUROs should the two meet.

Draxler should be on the starting 11 for Germany from now on IMHO, and if his brilliant run continues throughout the Euro, I think Bayern should make an approach for him this summer.

I like the idea of Bayern having the best german players, and Draxler will definitely be something really big in the next few years.

Draxler was really good... Better than Oezil.

One thing is clear after these 2 games: when Germany had the foot on the gas pedal they were clearly above both England and Italy. It is not presumptuous to say that Germany could be the best team heading into EURO 2016 if the team peaks at the right time. Italy was outplayed and outclassed like probably never before by Germany. This game reminds me the Germany-Netherlands friendly in the fall of 2011.
- Toni Kroos bossed the midfield, it was like fielding Andrea Pirlo at his prime against his own Italy. Thiago Motta who played the similar role for the visitors looked amateurish compared to Kroos.
- Sebastian Rudy made a case for himself to be the 1st choice Right Back.
- Özil was definitely more effective distributing from a deeper position.
- The 1-5-2-3 attacking formation at least against Italy looked much better than the 1-4-2-3-1 used versus England. Özil and Kroos pulled the Italian midfield away from the back line and open a lot of spaces not only for the German attacking players but also for the fullbacks who had more freedom because the 3 central defenders. A plus that the fullbacks ventured higher on the field either one at the time or when it was safe to do so.

Didn't watch the game but I'm very cautious of jumping on the Draxler bandwagon. I don't see anything special in him and never have.

or Candreva as RW

by the way italian sp prog reported that Conte was stunned by Loew... The former was expecting a 4-2-3-1 ...

I am not sure that from the midfield up Italy will be substantially better but the backline definitely will be much better. The Gotze header is unconceivable.
Italy has been in a good run since the World Cup unbeaten in competitive matches; although they had to fight hard to beat the great team of Malta twice in Euro qualification

Messi scored from a header in a CL final against Vidic and Ferdinand, so...

Also a lot of small guys score a header goals, so that unconceivable myth is busted.

But Goetze risked his head there... he headed a ball that defenders were trying to clear with their feet. He was practically sandwiched... and yeah, height doesn't always mean good heading skills.

For every goal that a small player scores with the head there are about 100 goals that they don't score with the head.
