Guys I don't care about friendly results as long as we learn something from them.Youngsters are making theri debuts, most of them are impressing, and we have the best record in EURO qualifiers. When it comes to competitive games we give our 100 %.Trust me even if we lose all friendlies from now till 2012 i'm sure we'll still be considered favorites.

Germany vs Australia was a very important game for Lowe. I would go as far as saying an extremely important one. First off Australia came back with a vengeance. The sort of feeling that made Argentina strike down Spain 4 0 at Buenos Aires. Like del Bosque said after the game: "Listen, we thought we came here to play a friendly and these guys [local hosts] thought it was a World Cup." (Not an exact quote by the way.)

The Socceros had it in for them Germans after the 4 1 in Africa and they saw this as the perfect chance to recover from the humiliation. Germany, on the other hand, was not looking to defend a title, not by a long shot. Lowe let go important fellows like Ozil, Lahm and Khedira and the ones that stayed like Gomez and Shweini did so at their own request.

So it was a perfect opportunity to test young comers Gomez and Gotze among others. Gomez' goal was spectacular BTW. These type of friendlies are games where you win more by observing new talent/positions never mind the outcome.

Results dont matter in friendly only the individual/ team performance matters.

They matter for FIFA rankings (for easiest draws etc.) but in general their point is to try some talents and new tactics ...

Weren't draws based on previous performances in tournaments?

Not only tournaments. They are based on the rankings for which both official and friendlies matches count. Of course official matches count for more points.
