Kimmich should be starter all the cup and understand this new role (possible substitute of Lahm)

He's quoted on Hoffe's website saying he's delighted to have been called up for Germany.

“To be called up for my country is a huge honour for me,” said Kerem Demirbay after receiving a phone call with the good news. “I couldn’t quite believe it at first when the phone rang,” he said, describing the moment that Joachim Löw informed him of his decision. However this “surprise” is just further confirmation that the 23-year-old midfielder has made the right decisions in his career. “Moving to TSG was exactly the right step,” Demirbay stressed once again. “I’ve developed hugely over the last year and Julian Nagelsmann has helped me bring my strengths to the team. To now be called up for the Germany national team is absolutely amazing.”

At 23 years of age and after having experience with both Federations he does not have too much time to decide.

1) If he decides for Germany he knows that it will be hard to break through because the talent pool is larger and many players like him come into the radar but vanish quickly, or even some that are called often are not guaranteed playing time.
2) If he decides for Turkey his chances to be a starter increase but after a decade of being a recognizable National Team, Turkey in recent years fell to become a 2nd or 3rd tier nation in International Football, most likely it will miss Russia 2018 as it sits 3rd in Group I tied with Ukraine behind Croatia and Iceland. This after they failed to qualify for WC 2014, Euro 2012, WC 2010 and were knocked out of Euro 2016 in the Group phase.

But it shouldn't be like that.

If he feels Turkish because of his family, then he should represent Turkey
If he feels German because he was born and raised there and at the end of the day that's where he learned football, then he should represent Germany

The chances of being called up by any of both teams shouldn't be a factor on his decision

It is always a difficult decision...
However if I had to be in a sit like that I will choose the nationality of my parents.
If the the parents are mixed I would choose the nationality of where I was born and raised.

Well, tbh I would choose a NT based on my chances of playing with it. So yes, I would do exactly what I'm criticising :)

But this shouldn't be allowed because in the future the World Cup will look like the Champions League.

I applaud Vidal and Sanchez's love for their country. I have tremendous respect for players who want to represent their national teams at every possible opportunity. It's a shame that the likes of Reus and Ozil chickened out. Especially Reus. He has never represented Germany is a major tournament and this was his first chance to win something with Germany!

Hell even that douchebag Ronaldo would be playing for Portugal in Russia. Wonder what excuse Kroos has when his Madrid teammate can play for his nation.

EDIT:
Anyway this would be my line up

Ter Stegen
Kimmich Mustafi Rudiger Hector
Goretzka Rudy
Sane Brandt Draxler
Werner

Still hope that Germany win this although I think Chile and Portugal are favorites. Mexico, Cameroon and Russia would be dark horses.

They weren't called up. About Reus Löw said that they don't want to take any risks because the World Cup is coming.

Leroy Sane has withdrawn from Germany's squad for the Confederations Cup. He'll have surgery on his nose and use the summer break to recuperate.

I'm well aware, but that doesn't mean they "chickened out". It sounded like America USA believes that being called up us a choice when it's usually not. Is it coincidence that all of the world class German players aren't called up? Löw just doesn't think highly about this competition is all.

Exactly. For Loew the Confedation Cup is only a minor tournament who is good only for trying new players and, not being particulary interested to win it, he does not see why he need to take his country biggest stars and forced them to renounce to their proper summer rest for three consecutive years (and Reus was not in the teams of WC14 and Euro16 only because he was injuried so he also had not his proper summer rest last year)

So basically we just accept that Marco is made of glass. What happens if he somehow again manages to get injured on the last of the season next year! Then what? There's a year to go for the WC. Honestly, Resting players for that competition twelve months in advance sounds ridiculous. Also the summer of 2015 was a good rest I think. And if just five games are enough to fatigue an elite professional then there is something not right with the player in question.

Also lol at Leroy Sane. If it was playing for his club he'd play with a mask on his face. Nose job, What an excuse! Couldn't make this up! Up next Draxler gets a finger injury and wants to remain in Paris :^o

Once again mad respect for guys like Vidal and Sanchez who'll be representing their nations with pride in Russia.

EDIT: I agree that Germany shouldn't have selected all their first team players but at least a couple of WC winners, who earned the right to qualify for this tournament in the first place, should have been included in the squad for their experience.

Interestingly enough Spain, Brazil, Italy and Uruguay took full strength squads to the Confederations Cup and took it pretty seriously. Now I know some people could blame Italy and Spain's early exits in 2014 to this fact but that approach is wrong too. Spain and Italy shouldn't have selected all their first team players.

What I'm trying to say is treat it as a youth tournament is as bad as treating it as a very important tournament. Select the new comers but also send a few big players. This German team is like an Olympic team. It's sad.
