Well we haven't really played teams that can threaten us offensively. With the Month of Hell (TM) coming up, he's going to get his chance to show off.

But I do not think he is in danger of losing his spot. Neuer's strength is his ball distribution, exactly what Löw wants from his goalies.

Seriously.... I think he may need some special training these days... I fear he might forget the basics of goalkeeping the way our defensive structure performs these days....

He should just do goal-keeping drills while the game is going. :D

Well, let's not forget that he IS training with the players who scored 22 goals in 8 games. He probably gets tested more in training than he does in matches these days.

Joking aside, Kahn had a good defense. Casillas has a good defense. VDS had a good defense. It didn't affect any of them and it won't affect Neuer.

Really good point, Neuer is most likely the best keeper in the world because he has been facing the best offense often in training.

EDIT: "Joking aside, Kahn had a good defense, Casillas has a good defense, VDS had a good defense, and Neuer has a great defense."

Yea, I'm pretty confident with our defense now under Heynckes.
We haven't seen a defense like this since the earlier part of this decade.

[offtopic] Agree. It's more the system rather than the players themselves. I think our midfield plays a huge role in our defending this season and if we were to switch to a 3-5-2 it would probably still work very well. Not that we should switch to 3-5-2, everything is working great right now. But it's not a bad choice for when we need that late goal.

Like I told Daniel (FCBAYERNMUNCHEN)

Neuer has been pretty useless lately (in a positive way)

True , but The Thing is that in the entire season , there were only 6 Shots on Target against US !!!!!!

and the reason is that Heynckes (like some players or he himself said) that all the players even the offensive ones have Defensive Duties

Gomez himself few days ago said that Helping Defense is actually Fun

and Schweinsteiger Praised Gomez after the Freiburg game for doing a great job in Defense

Yes

We are playing almost exactly like last season Dortmund, which is a very nice style and very effective.

I was actually kinda unsure where to post this (due to reasons soon to become clear), but when reading Honigstein's blog, some commenters presented an interesting idea: what if Bavaria were to have it's own team much like the Basques? It would be interesting, that's for sure, formed around a FCB core. I'm thinking -

-----------------?-----------------
-Träsch---?-----Holger--Lahm-
-------Bender-------Bender-----
---Müller--Schweini--Götze----
------------Kiessling-------------
Götze qualifies if Holger does - they're born in the same town!

With a bench of, uh, Lell, Ottl, Hitzlsperger.

It's a good mental exercise to find players to man this team, fill the gaps!
The ideal team

I didn't know where to post this!
(why don't we have threads for this?)

Apparently, our (Germany's) new u17 team has gotten superb results in friendlies before the qualification matches that starts next month...
they have defeated Turkey(4-0), Netherlands (2-0), Israel (5-0), and Italy (2-0) in the last few days.... =D> =D>

Sadly, there is no Bayern player in that team!

So Löw's assistant coach Hansi Flick is supposedly one of the candidates for the Schalke job. Interesting...
