Yes.. it is increasingly evident that the result in the first-game was a fluke. Germany are not looking for big or impressive wins, but for results. It is a clear move away from the football of the past 4 years (which in the end won us nothing), and it should not really be surprising. There were rumours Germany would not try to play spectacularly and focus on grinding out wins before the WC even started. I suppose the game against Portugal changed people's expectations.

It worked out for Spain 4 years ago, and is working out so far for Germany as well. There are some things which need to be sorted out before next Tuesday but this game was a clear improvement from the one against Algeria. I would say it was our best game after the one vs Portugal.

The lineup was also a positive step forward in my opinion. Klose, however, does not seem like a player that should start. He did not do anything significant today and he is obviously not fit enough to play 90 minutes in those conditions. He is better off as a sub when the defenders are tired. I would like to see Schurrle start in the next game (especially if it's against Brazil). Despite his missed chances I think Germany became more dangerous once he came on.

Much like the second to be honest. It was not really an exciting game.

I would say that Germany dominated the entire game except for the 5 minutes or so before the goal. France had some dangerous chances in the first half and early in the second but to be honest most of them should have been called offside, so you can't really say they were defensive mistakes. Hummels and Neuer saved us in those instances. I don't think France ever really looked like scoring except for that last chance.

I guess they were real. Croatian commentator stressed that Kramer has passed the worst of all his teammates.

No matter what, flu was nothing compared to Germany's great defensive performance today.

I suppose he knows the reason why Hummels is the only German Dortmund player that has played in this world cup. I mean, look where he learnt his football. :P

Well I enjoyed that anyway. The 'excitement' of the second round match was too much. Couldn't have done with that again!

Neuer is such a BOSS, he doesn't need two hands to save. Lol

This generation deserves to be World Champions, not only for this WC but from all we've seen since Klose's debut.

There is nothing else than win on this World Cup. Now or never for this generation of footballers led by Lahm, Bastian, Klose, Podolski, Özil, Mertesacker...

Italy is out, Spain is out. Take that gold!

Deutschland may not have made new fans on Friday when beating France 1:0, but it certainly showed that managing a game and getting a result was important after having previously been fragile.
