Forget about 1982 and about other clichés of franco-german relations. When the two meet in World Cup quarter-finals on Friday, a battle of free-flowing football is what’s likely to take place.

Good and Bad(very?) news guys:
“Seven players are slightly ill with flu symptoms,” said Löw. “It is not that bad at the moment and it could be partly about air conditioning, the travel, temperature differences. I do not want to make a drama of it. We hope the situation will ease.”

The coach Andreas Köpke said the midfielder Christoph Kramer was among those struggling with “slight chills”. Hummels, though, tweeted that he was recovering from his infection, writing he felt “almost back at 100%”, while Lukas Podolski is also likely to be available to face France after recovering from a thigh strain.

Heard about it this morning. I'm taking it with a pinch of salt. Could be mind games.

in the meantime I've just learned that the referee is going to be....Nestor Pitana from Argentina...

If it's true they're sick we have every reason to be worried.

Possible line-up against France from Bild. In yesterdays final training Löw used KG as a right back.

Media is putting pressure on Jogi to play Lahm in RB position... I'm not sure how healthy is that pressure, but... Germany just has to play their own game and that would be it.

I hope Lahm plays as RB. I think we have to find someone to replace Howedes as LB. Valbuena could be more dangerous at left flank.

I find it hard to believe that Howedes will start and Boateng doesn't. It might be the other way around if Grosskreutz is to start.

I wouldn't mind that but I hope Boateng plays instead of Howedes or Mertesacker.

The midfield looks strong.

:coffee: meh France is a bit overestimated. They haven't met anyone that made them worked for it like Germany has. Even if we don't win the WC, I'm still confident we'll reach the Final Four. So our defense might suck, that has not stopped a team from winning before hehehehe

Lloris is one shampoo commercial away from Joe Hart.
