And this is relly impressive considering that Germany U21 is missing half of the team.

Italianphobia mayby and knowing that Germans fear italy even if they know that they are superior to them.
We have seen it last summer.

Once again Germany was the tortoise in the Tortoise and the Hare race. Started slow but grew into the game (although weak defending and specially set pieces).
Don't think they don't stand a chance against Italy (they conceded one goal from error). Against Spain - different story, although nobody stood a chance against Hungary in 1954 too, so anything can happen...

P.S. German goalkeeper with piece of paper during penalties, again - priceless

Ok but even though Ger had a team thrice as much better they still struggled.
It is a psychological thing...

Even Spain suffers vs Italy ...

It is the same sit with Holland and England when faced with Germany...
And to certain extent even Argentina.

I just don't believe that's true

First, there are very few official games played by both teams in 100 years of football and most of them have been close. The last one was a Germany win that sent Italy back home. Just before the Euros there was a friendly in which Germany mopped the floor with Italy btw.

Yes, Italy knocked out a poor Germany squad and eventually won the World Cup in German ground, but Germany won the WC in Italy back in 1990.

Spain suffers against Italy... well, they lost last year in the Euro against them, but Spain defeated Italy 4-0 in 2012 final and also they defeated them in 2008 quarterfinals

So I can't see that Italianophobia or whatever you want to call it. Italy have good players and they know how to compete. It's never easy to beat them in the same way that it's never easy to defeat Germany, doesn't matter how poor their squad might be.

Also, I remember Özil's U21 generation defeating Italy with Andreas Beck goal in the OT and reaching (and eventually winning) the finals in 2009

I guess they also had Italianophobia and no chance against Italy back then :coffee:

In 2008 you had to spit blood... it was only thanks to penalties.
I also remember the 94 edition...
As for Oezil's gen you are right...
P.S
Italians know that Germans hate and are afraid to play them

Congratulations to Germany. Runners up of the U21 European Championship 2017. Spain are miles ahead of the rest technically and tactically.

yeah right. Germany's midfield displayed some of the tournament's most beautiful attacks this evening. If it weren't for Gnabry and Philipp's enthusiasm, this match would've been decided for good way before the final whistle. Toljan on the right is deadly. Spain has beaten a Italy who got only one deserved win this tournament(anyone who watched the game against Germany knew it was a farce). Don't count out Arnold and co yet.

Always good to have La Liga and the Bundesliga in the final and not the EPL

We'll have to agree to disagree I'm afraid. Haven't seen anything from Germany to suggest they can challenge Spain. Not saying they're a bad side, they deserve to be in the final but Spain are clearly superior to everyone. I don't understand the tendancy to talk down Spanish teams whether it's the U21s, the national team or their club teams (jealousy and bitterness perhaps. i don't like them myself but you can't deny they're quality). Their record since 2008 speaks for itself.
