If Germany win or draw they get Greece, Euro 12's own little Chelsea.

I think the little Chelsea is from the same country (England).

It's fitting because they're both bound for a quarter-final exit.

Not a good thing as this can get you in a bad note with the coach and team mates but Kroos has some reasons to be unhappy.

Most are convinced that Podolski should have been at least taken off over the 60 min. mark on both games, if not benched for the 2nd game, many in this forum look for Schurrle or Reus as replacements. Myself I believe it is Kroos who needs to replace Podolski. True that Kroos does not have the speed of a winger but he does not need to. The way Podolski is playing he does not have speed either and the argument that he helps Lahm on defense have no substance as Kroos has better defensive skills not only than Podolski but also than Reus and Schurrle.

Kroos on the left will generate even more space for Ozil, Schweini and Khedira to filtrate passes and room for Gomez to operate as Kroos can hold the ball better (stretching the defensive line), can send dangerous crosses, can cut inside and shoot from long range or can play 1-2-3 passes with the rest to get inside the area.

For me it is no brainer: Loew is wasting a huge weapon having him on the bench.

Good point, Jorge. The only problem I see is Kroos is pretty much useless when it comes to playing a fast counter.

IMO Kroos should have been thankful that at least he plays as sub and dont be a crying baby. Personally I would have chosen Goetze to replace Oezil...

I normally hate the idea of Kroos on the wing, but... Germany doesn't really counter anymore anyway.

quaazi wrote:Özil has been playing superbly. In fact his and Müller's movement are the reason Schweini got two assists v Holland - Özil moves out to combine with Müller, either van Bommel or De Jong follow, the remaining midfielder is left alone and can't cover enough space.

He's a team player and is useful even if he doesn't have the statistics to prove it. He and Müller are the complete opposites of Podolski in that regard (whose contribution usually comes in the form of goals and little more, so when that source dries up, we're left with a crappy fullback wannabe)

I agree, however Ozil became very selfish in the second half against Holland, imo.

Regarding Bender, he looks like he has the necessary skills to succeed at RB, but it's a risk to say the least. If we're lucky he plays better than Boateng and we'll have a better team in the knockout stages.

Oh now he wants to show some balls! Where were they last month  ?!

Seriously though, I don't like him as a left winger. Reus would fill that place better IMO, and would be of more benefit to our counter-attacks. Though, I wouldn't mind him starting off against Denmark, maybe in place of the more defensive-minded Khedira.

I think Kroos unhappiness is because he played regularly as a starter and had an important role and very good performances in the NT the past two years that included friendlies + Qualifications

and now he finds himself at the same point of the world cup 2010 as if he hasn't done anything since then

I can't blame him at all

Surely he realizes that his inclusion in the past two years is mostly due to injuries and experimentation?
