Bayern loses at Wolfsburg, Nuremberg regains lead...!!

Postby Miss Dangerous » Sat Sep 30, 2006 7:31 pm

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) -Bayern Munich lost 1-0 at Wolfsburg on Saturday to be one of four teams atop the German league.

Germany striker Mike Hanke scored in the 36th minute for Wolfsburg to win its first game of the season and rise from last to 14th place in the sixth round of the Bundesliga.

Hamburger SV rallied to a 2-2 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt that extended its run without a win to 13 games, while Werder Bremen trounced Borussia Moenchengladbach 3-0.

Nuremberg drew 1-1 at home to Mainz and is equal first with Bayern, Schalke and Bremen on 10 points.

On Sunday, Schalke is at Bayer Leverkusen and Hertha Berlin, which has nine points, hosts Stuttgart.

Arminia Bielefeld beat Energie Cottbus 3-1 and Alemannia Aachen edged Bochum 2-1.

In Wolfsburg, Bayern coach Felix Magath used the same starting lineup that beat Inter Milan 2-0 in the Champions League three days earlier.

But the home side withstood some early pressure from the defending champion and Hanke was left unmarked to notch only Wolfsburg's third goal of the season.

Jan Polak put Nuremberg ahead in the 23rd minute, but the home side wasted an opportunity to double the lead when Mainz goalkeeper Dimo Wache saved Robert Vitek's penalty. Nuremberg then had Jawhar Mnari sent off in the 43rd and Christoph Babatz scored in the 85th for Mainz. :x

Bremen, last season's runner-up, rolled past Moenchengladbach by scoring three goals during a five-minute spell in the first half.

Aaron Hunt opened the scoring in the 33rd, Christian Schulz made it 2-0 in the 35th and Diego completed the victory in the 38th. Moenchengladbach hasn't won in Bremen in 19 years. :|

Struggling Hamburg, which finished third last season, had its fifth draw in six games and is now 16th, two places from the bottom and the only team without a win.

Hamburg was lucky to escape with a draw after trailing twice in a lively match.

Alexander Meier put Frankfurt ahead in the 36th, before Danijel Ljuboja equalized in the 51st. Seven minutes later, Ioannis Amanatidis restored Frankfurt's lead. But Boubacar Sanogo sealed Hamburg's point in the 69th. :?:

Bochum went ahead through Zvjezdan Misimovic, but conceded two goals in two minutes early in the second half to drop to the bottom of the standings. Jan Schlaudraff, called up to for Germany for the first time, scored in the 48th for Aachen and Sascha Roesler added the second goal a minute later. :!:

South Africa international Sibusiso Zuma celebrated his comeback after missing five months with injury by scoring three minutes into the second half to begin Bielefeld's comeback after Vlad Munteanu had put Cottbus ahead. Artur Wichniarek and Ioannis Masmanidis scored for Bielefeld.
