The tide turned when Red Bull identified the unused potential, came to Leipzig and built a Bundesliga club in just seven years. Call RB “plastic club and marketing tool” all you want, but this is still better than everything Leipzig had before.

RB’s promotion is also a middle finger to the West German football establishment, who act like RedBull’s involvement is the “death to football”, after decades of standing around and watching East German football die slowly. Now the establishment starts to care? [source]

Very interesting article about RB Leipzig :)

Agreed. Red Bull is a good thing to happen to German football, as opposed to the staleness, or even regression, provided by dinosaurs like Hamburg, Stuttgart and Werder. The god-given right of a traditionsverein is not that.

I will always hate money clubs but overall they will do more good than harm to the Bundesliga.

O dislike them less than other money clubs because a) they are not a family or millionaire, but rather a corporation (which I find less personal and capricious) and b) it's a German (or Austrian?) company which is much better than a foreign entity. Good luck to them and may they stablish themselves as the third big BuLi team.

BS statement... What should they have done? Rewarded their inability to run a club properly? Send them some money? Players for free? Build them their own stadiums? (btw: It's not even their own stadium) Reward their inability to build structures to support a professional team? "East German football" is a myth... No different than Russian "athletes"... The problem with RB is not even that they're a shitty fake-ass plastic club - which they are! But that they don't allow anyone to join it, that they're clearly only in this business to advertise a shitty drink that is the deadliest shit ever invented - and to make up for the unbelievably small genitals of Mateschitz, obviously...

Do you know why I like them ? Apart from the history of the City itself and its beauty a former Birkirkara FC player used to play for them...

History? Not too interesting tbh... I think -a mong others - Berlin (of course!), Cologne Aachen, Nuremberg and even Munich are far more interesting history-wise...

btw: If you've noticed Dresden playing 2. Bundesliga next year you might've recognized that Würzburg will be in the playoffs - hope they make it... So I can go see the **** pussycats get torn apart just a few miles away... :P :D

I kind of agree with you on the fact that I don't see a good reason why the west should have helped the east back then. Each and everyone is responsible for its own future.
Still, I don't see why anybody should care about Leipzig built its club and its way to the top.
Red Bull owns it, so what? So does Bayer in Leverkusen, Vi in Wolfsburg.

And as to the advertising part, the difference between their ways and the traditional sponsorship (shirt, stadium, etc) is really not that big...

To me it's a question of embracing the dark side. The Bundesliga needs one or two money clubs if we are to keep up with La Liga and EPL.

We can still hate them and mock them for being a money club though.

Well, Leverkusen and Wolfsburg are not exactly popular either... ;)

It's just that somehow they grew into this position historically... The problem with Leipzig is that it's a whole project... "we have tons of money to spend, so where is a place in germany where we have structures - and clubs - that we can take, use and make it to Bundesliga in the fastest way possible without investing too much of our own money (like building an own stadium or something like that...)?"
Thanks for nothing, :pep: !!
