A striking similarity to the Neuer case then.

Neuer was only 18m, if I remember. Add-ons made it to almost 24-25m.

20m for a GK(ter Stegen) aged 20-21 should be a record.

Also, Sommer is a very fine decision. He is very good, only 25 and half the price.

1. It is rumored that, in the end, we paid up to 30M for Neuer, all bonuses included... (after winning the CL)

2. Ter Stegen is really really good... but he is not an established international as Neuer was when we bought him... So 20M for such a young GK, with only 1 year left of his contract, is really good money...

3. Sommer is a very gook keeper... But there are a bunch of better/younger German keepers in the Bundesliga... why don't they pursue Kevin Trapp for example? He is excellent...

They were rumoured to be interested in Trapp and Giefer. Nothing's out yet concretely so I guess the chances are still there.

They also have chances of moving abroad. (There was a rumour Juve were looking into Zieler)

The only reason I can think of is having another "top" team getting into the race of signing him. Now, of those teams needing a proper GK, Man City comes to mind.

I think it's just some BS rumour. It doesn't make any sense IMO. You don't raise your offer from 10M to 20M just because there is another team interested in the player

And if it were true it would have mostly been everywhere on the media and I haven't read anything from that

I think it's a bit stupid that BVB simply let Ter-Stegen go without a fight. He is going to be a world class keeper for years, second best only to Neuer most likely. And Weidenfeller is not getting any younger, plus I feel like he has leaked in a few goals this year that he should have prevented. He is going to be what, 35 this year? It's the age when most athletes start losing quite a bit of flexibility and reflexes, so I don't think he has much left in the tank. A year maybe two at most as a keeper for a team that fancies itself a member of the European elite.

Dortmund wouldn't pay over the odds for a GK now.
Weidenfeller will probably continue for a few years. So who knows.

Also, there's Trapp, Zeiler, Baumann still available.

There was a rumour that Schalke were interested in Fabianski. He's good.

Gladbach needs urgently decent replacement for their CB duo(Daems-Stranzl) they are old enough, getting a class GK seems to be easy(Trapp,Baumann,Krul,Streller) Traore is probably on his way to Mönchengladbach and a decent RB I think, where rumours about Jansen I don't rate him as decent but it seems that Gladbach board thinks the same way as I do.
I watched rumours at the transfermarkt and Papiss Cisse was on their list,a massive one if they can pull it off.

@Adept I have a feeling that BVB will bid on Bernd Leno next summer and I think they should, excellent talent.

It will be very entertaining if Barça get him. Own goals galore with Pique and Mascherano! :D
