Premier League clubs have been alerted to a potential battle for control at Borussia Dortmund, offering the possibility of poaching head coach Thomas Tuchel.
Mislintat has already been linked with an exit, with Bundesliga rivals Hamburg hoping to take advantage of the situation. But the club's head scout is an integral part of general manager Michael Zorc's team behind the scenes in the North Rhine.
And Zorc is looking to hand him greater responsibility by handing him the role 'Head of Professional Football' to ward off potential suitors - potentially enhancing the prospect of Tuchel's departure.
Mislintat, 43, has been in his role at the Westfalenstadion since 2009, and has played a key role in finding talent in recent years, working under General Manager Michael Zorc.
His successes include finding the likes of Robert Lewandowski (£3million), Shinji Kagawa (£300k from Cerezo Osaka) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£12million).
Now the two men don't speak, despite Mislintat also being prominent in the club's analysis of future opponents and during Dortmund's games, when he sits high in the stands working with the video team.
Mislintat has an excellent reputation in Germany following his role in Dortmund's renaissance since returning from the brink of financial collapse, and an excellent relationship with Zorc.
Zorc is hoping he can persuade him to take on an upgraded role at Dortmund, with the title that would place him above Tuchel in the club’s pecking order, and hand him far greater responsibility over the team. [source]
