Read that Watzke confirmed that Mhikitaryan won't renew, if so then BVB will have to rebuild pretty much from scratch next season. Shame, I was enjoying the rivalry. Also: no wonder they have been acquiring so many young players for positions they already had covered (Mor and Dembele). BVB-Kindergarten

I'm afraid losing Hummels was the last straw for the rest of the team.

Yeah. Both him and Gündogan. Reus and Mhikitaryan probably just don't want to lose their career primes while BVB rebuilds :-/

I cannot believe they could let themselves be in a situation like this.
To lose Hummels, Gündogan AND Mkhitaryan!

Why haven't they taken precautions?
Why didn't they insist on extending Mkhitaryan sooner?

As I recall BVB have never been in a situation like this before. Losing THREE key players in one window.

Of course thay have signe some very good young guns, but think about how much this damages the team and brand!

Reus and Aubameyang will start to think if they have signed for a WC club or a no-ambitions club.
Dortmund made much more money than Atletico last year, but still Atletico is the club who can hang on to its key players...

The only way I can think of for them to save themselves now is to 1: push the price for Mkhi to at least 30m. 2: go all out and pick up 1-2 WC(or close to WC) signings to show Reus and Auba that they are serious BuLi and CL contenders.

They need to make top signings. That's their only hope to remain one of the competitive clubs in Europe. Getting young and talented players is very good, but that's a long-term and risky strategy. If they lose Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang without getting good enough replacements, they're screwed.

I don't think anyone will want to sign Reus, at least not for the wages that he for some reason thinks he deserves. :coffee:

Reus strikes me as the type who might stay tbh.

BVB said they won't sell Mhikitaryan and that will not extend so he will leave on a free transfer next summer. We should get him xD

BvB pooling their resources going young and building up, not a bad idea. Klopp made that happen with an happy end before
