It seems like a sensible purchase. He'll probably not be called up for the WC despite Falcao's injury so his valuation shouldn't rise but my question is, would Klopp go for a 28 year old?

I [-o< that it will never happen. He doesn't deserve to play in a civilized league like the buLi. If it happens BVB will become my most hated club.
However I am sure he'll never accepts cause for him money and fame come first.

That's sad news for Kuba and BVB... Hope he gets well soon

In the meantime, Dortmund have a couple of days before the end of transfer window.... I hope they add an attacking midfielder to their squad... They could go for Volland, who can challenge Auba and is also not CL-tied... Another option would be try to loan/sign Kagawa, though, that would also depend on whether or not Micki can play on the wings....

Kagawa should be an easy target at the moment due to Mata's arrival at United. I think his wages might be a problem, though.

They are not going to sell him yet, not until summer for sure. CL option.
Also, Kagawa should take the route back even if it meant cutting his wages a bit.

Also, seeing the condition of Dortmund exports, I'd say they should either join Bayern or stay at Dortmund for their fruitful careers.
Otherwise, they'd simply be wasting a year or two of their playing age.

Gundogan extending + Kagawa + a decent striker and we are good to go.

Mkhitaryan could play on the wing, I think it could even be better for him because he runs a lot, his creativity is not that high to play in the middle. Maybe this is a solution, who knows.

I think we are hurting because our playmakers suck at the moment. We always had a great playmaker in recent years. Sahin in 2010/2011, Kagawa 2011/2012, Gundogan 2012/2013 and now we have none... I think thats the main problem.

Thats why its so important for Gundogan to come back... I hope he doesnt screw us over and just goes to another club when a first chance to do so appears...

Well, he's already screwed SV Gelsenkirchen-Hessler 06 (twice), Schalke 04, SSV Buer, Bochum and Nürnberg by his 20th birthday, so the trend* is clearly there. I wouldn't keep my hopes up too much with him extending, he's clearly a bit of a mercenary. For the good of the Bundesliga, I hope he proves me wrong.

* At least he didn't screw Germany, his place of birth, and go play for Turkey.

I hope that the seriousness of his injury will kind of force him to extend the deal with Dortmund because right now he is damaged goods. We just have to wait and see I guess...

We really not to start doing stuff on the market, all the players I named are REALISTIC targets! Kagawa, Volland, Ramos. Only Dzeko seems less realistic. And if we just bought those three players we would be very strong. We can't mess this up. We dont even need to buy a striker! We could change our system and play with Volland, Aubameyang or Reus as a dynamic striker.

For example something like this:
-------------- Weidenfeller ------------
Piszczek, Sokratis, Hummels, Durm
---------- Bender, Gundogan ---------
Mkhitaryan --Kagawa ------ Reus----
--------------- Volland -----------------

It could also work very well. We have so many options! I just hope we make use of one of them and stay strong.

I wrote something like this? I dont even remember. :D

Either way, of course it was a good idea. He wouldnt be any good for us right now. First of all, he would sit on the bench for the whole round! Even now I dont see a reason why he would be needed. We do have Hofmann. Second of all, he is getting playing time in Hannover and we can bring him back whenever we want. We have a buy-back clause that works until 2016! It was a great piece of business, he will develop and comeback if he's good enough. He would just ruin his career if he had stayed in Dortmund.

Leitner is something else though - he could have stepped in and bench Sahin who is playing very poorly. But its also not that bad right now - he is playing in Stuttgart and is doing quite well from what Ive read. In 1,5 years he can be a huge addition when his loan ends.

Watzke just told Welt that we might bring someone in because of Kuba's injury but it has to be logical move financial and sportingwise. I will just say one thing - either buy someone with quality or don't buy anyone. Whats the point of buying another Friedrich-like player? Better to give Hofmann a chance in that case. So it has to be someone like Volland who will actually strenghen us or no one at all.
