We already discussed this but those published numbers by the club tell next to nothing. The actual business report is decisive and there Borussia Dortmund didn't have more than € 25m (including up to € 20m outstanding payments from other clubs) left after the spending € 50m on Mkhitaryan, Sokratis and Aubameyang. All is built all around the crucial date of June 30th. Dortmund conveniently included the outstanding payments clubs like Bayern owed them (but paid them on July 1st due to tax benefits or later). What they didn't include were the € 50m they spent on new players in July.

There you have it, your new record profit of € 50m in the books. Still only up to € 25m on the bank accounts. ;)

Better question would be 'why Bild, why?'. I dont see us agreeing to such a deal,

35 mil for Hummels? BVB can get more because Barcelona doesn't have a lot of option nor there are a lot of world-class CBs available.

Well, the Hummels to Barcelona link was pretty hot already this past summer. We also know that Hummels always said that it's his dream to play for one of the biggest clubs in England or Spain. The names of United and Barcelona going through the media and that he'd one day like to make the step abroad.

Hummels will be 25 1/2 years next summer and he was always very loyal to Dortmund. I can definitely see Dortmund telling Hummels they are willing to let him go to his dream club (unless it's Bayern) and in return there'll be no drama about his contract extension or stuff like that.

By the way Bild didn't claim Dortmund already signed a successor, only that they are observing some talent from FC Basel. Also as we know from Lewandowski's case, having a vocal agreement with Watzke doesn't mean much.

Once Dortmund signed Sokratis I was pretty sure either Hummels or Subotic were going to leave in 2014. It appears to be Mats Hummels.

If it's Basel, then it would be Schar. He's pretty good.
Chelsea is rumoured to be interested in him.

Sure it's his dream club but BVB should at least be smart and get more money. I know attackers usually sell higher but with the supply of CBs today, buying a CB is not that easy so their stock should be higher. Personally, I don't think Sokratis is up to par with what Hummels brings to BVB. If there's anyone in BVB's defense that should be sold, it's Schmelzer.

He has a 35m release clause according to Bild. If that's true then there's no way Barcelona will pay more. For the sake of the Bundesliga, I hope he remains.

Ahh... tsk I hope he remains too. I want BVB to find a way to stop selling their talents especially to those English clubs as well as the two Spanish giants. The EPL, Barca, and Real fanboys all want their players. Go produce your own players you mugs! Even their own players don't think BVB is a big club or one's final destination as a player. :|

I don't think it's true but tbh it's not a bad deal for BVB.

Dortmund would be an end destination after the next 3-4 years.
Till then, they may have to part with their talents.

35m would be an incredible deal for them, but I can't see them losing two important players in one summer. Add to that the futures of both Gundogan and Reus are uncertain and yeah..
