In MUTU's defence this was originally a thread to monitor Dortmund's end of 2011/12 season performances.

What's wrong with Gundogan? He seems to be injured for longer than expected. Coming to think of it, he didn't play Sunday did he?

Second time at the stadium, first time watching a game. But I did see Dortmund's games live last year and two years ago when they came to Poland to play friendlies with Legia and Lech. :P

I think we will manage to beat Hamburg this season. :D

Great news coming from Dortmund today! Dortmund are now officialy DEBT-FREE! Our revenue for this season is 305 million euros and the profit is 53,3 million euros (34,4 million euros last year). Amazing numbers. This makes me look at the future with optimism.

Well, we're not completely debt-free. Just that the remaining debt is minimal and is cheaper to hold rather than to pay off all at once, due to tax reasons. Basically the remaining debt is healthy debt.

Interestingly, Watzke reported that we actually got 44 million for Gotze, rather than 37. Gotze was invaluable but at least that's a much fairer price, so I'm happy to learn that.

Maybe it's cheaper to hold the debt due to tax reasons. I don't know. However I rather think the loan contract was signed long-term and the bank obviously has no interest to pass out on the interest burden. They have no interest in getting back their money sooner unless Dortmund would be willing to pay all the interest burdens in one go on top. That's not in BVB's best interest so everything stays as it is. Given that it's such an old contract it should be quite profitable for the bank since nowadays interest burdens are much lower for loans.

The € 44m include tax but Bayern gets that pre-tax back from the state so we effectively paid € 37m.
