Bayern Munich have enjoyed some great battles against Europe's elite clubs over the ages, but which rivalry stands above all others and why ?

Man U, Real Madrid & Milan
I've never saw my team beating the Italians in any official competition... but if I have to chose from the above list I choose Man U

There's Real Madrid- the long term hatred with la bestia negra etc. Then there's Manchester United and Chelsea which comes 2nd and 3rd respectively, where English clubs are quite anti-football when it comes to facing European teams, the Pep vs Jose factor and the fans vs the oligarchs.

Real Madrid, no doubt. Our greatest rivalry as also for me Bayern - Real Madrid is the european classic match, despite Milan have won more CL than us. There is no other encounter with more history than this one.

For me there is no more sastifaction, after winning a champions league, than beating Real Madrid. This rivalry took intence in the Hitzfeld and Del Bosque eras, where there was just one team that can really beat the "galacticos": FC Bayern München, "La Bestia Negra" as many spanish called us.

Recently greatest moments for Bayern against Madrid:

1) 2012 penalty shoot-out winning at Bernabeu
2) 2001 - Bayern beating 2-1 Real Madrid at Olympiastadion in Munich, returning to another Champions league final.
3) 2007 - 10 seconds goal from Roy Makaay at Allianz Arena
4) 2015 - [-o<
Super-Bayern! Super-Bayern! Hey! Hey!

Real Madrid is the classic fixture for me. The two greatest dynasties to still be at the very, very top of the game.

That back heel by Madjer still haunts me

But I wonder if Real Madrid fans, the real ones, feel the same about our rivalry.

At Estadio Olímpico the chain smoker next to me noticed I kept looking at the Bayern Ultras. He asked in two languages what was that banner they carried, the biggest one. I said it was a Spanish adjective Bayern Ultras carry everywhere. It identifies the team both home and abroad. Nowhere to be seen were any references to the Mia redundancy which I tried to explain was the home motto.

By the time Rome was down by five goals, he decided he had seen enough. He stood, threw the empty cigarette box over the plastic shield in front and turned to shake my hand. Sir, He said, La Bestia Nera. It looked to me like he was trying to say apelatives are earned on the pitch.

If Pep is the one to bring the force back into balance, he owes me a 4-0. F*ck the CL. We have got a score to settle first.
