Even though I'm not a fan of goalkeeper captains (especially considering how they're planning to make it an official rule that only captains can address a referee during a game), I do think Manuel Neuer is our best option for Captaincy next season. He has embraced the club identity, is level headed, and a leader on the pitch before, during and after games (check how he did after we got kicked out of UCL last season).

I, however, would love to see Thiago and Thomas as vice-captains. Thomas is a little too hot headed at times for me to be the first choice captain, and he currently doesn't always play. Thiago speaks all the languages in the team, and seems to have a diplomatic personality on the pitch, but he might not be the 'identifications player' the board would want for the first choice position.

How a guy who don't even speak german in interview or in PK could be captain or vice-captain ?

Neuer captain.
Boateng and Muller/Hummels vice-captain..
Bayern 3-3-3-1 build-up under Heynckes :
Neuer - Boateng Hummels Thiago - Kimmich Vidal Alaba - Robben Müller James - Lewandowski
Neuer- Boateng Vidal Hummels- Kimmich Martinez Alaba- Robben James Ribéry- Lewandowski

Speaks German, not very confident, but he speaks it and is increasing his use of the language in official outings.
How can you promote Hummels to captain or vice-captain after ONE year back. Also, guy is a hot head pur sang. Same with Boa.

We are Bayern. A german club with some of the best german players there.

That's not the little Thiago who don't speak a perfect german with his 17 little cap with Spain who will be over Hummels, Boateng or Müller, ~ 70 caps each and World champion.

In Barcelona they don't elect Rakitic as 2nd or 3rd captain. It's experimented player at Barcelona for a long time who take it. Like Messi who is argentina captain or Mascherano who was argentina captain. Or Busquets and Pique.

In Madrid they don't elect Kroos as 2nd or 3rd captain. They give it to Marcelo who is there for 10 years or to Ronaldo who is Portugal captain.

In Turin it's Chiellini, Marchisio and Bonucci. Not Dybala, Khedira or else.

So excuse me if I don't have any fanboy aspect/reflexion. It's really huge to say Thiago could be 2nd captain. Really. It's even direspectful for our German international players.

And what I say for Thiago is the same for Vidal or Lewandowski despite their way bigger experience.

And there is noway a decent coach give him the armbrand because any decent coach know that would be an insult for Boateng, Müller or even Robben.

Didn't know we were nationalists....ok, good to know!
Also didn't know NT caps counted for a club captaincy, also very good to know, thank you so much Coman, I am learning by the day!
Also didn't know World Cups came into play for captaincy callings....poor Arjen, so close to that captaincy in 2010. In which case: Xabi Alonso is nailed on getting it: World Cup winner, insane amount of caps, speaks German fluently, always plays.

I'd rather look at the players, their attitude, their character, or experience in captaincy and not the stamp in their passport, or whatever other clubs do. But whatever floats your boat I guess.

If someone who comes from the youth ranks is captain... our youth will look up to him and dream to follow in his footsteps. It's important that our youth players get recognition which for some reason they can't get outside Bayern or Germany. If you don't value their loyalty then don't expect loyalty back.

You do realise that actually was a joke, right? :P

Arjen would also be an ok-vice Captain, altho I'm not liking his un-sportsman-like behavior at times .

Nothing to do with nationalist. This is an easy shortcut.

For exemple Thiago deserve more the armbrand than Vidal or Costa who don't speak german or even than Kimmich who is german..

And yes many thing count for captainacy : age, experience, time at the club, way to speak the langage and Nationality.

And for all this aspect Thiago is far far from deserving the armbrand.

The good thing is fanboyzing isn't an aspect to give a armbrandt to a player.

You have my pov, I have yours. But I really think you're wrong on this one.

Cheers Roonzil and long live to Thiago. Maybe captain of Bayern in 5 years.

Read my post....I said VICE....you know, as in substitute. Never said anywhere first choice, and I also said WHY I don't feel like a player like him should be or will be first choice.

Also, hi, not a boy!

Disagree. If Alonso is going to extend and play every game anyway, I'd welcome him as captain tbh. :P
